You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: I sat down in the cozy tent of the kind old woman, sharing my story and seeking her advice. She listened carefully, her eyes showing understanding and warmth. After I finished, she asked me to pick a card from her deck and so I chose one, feeling both nervous and excited as I flipped it over. The old woman smiled reassuringly and told me to embrace the journey ahead, assuring me that I could handle whatever challenges came my way. Surrounded by the odd scents and soft light, I felt a sense of clarity and determination. With the old woman's support, I knew I had the strength to face whatever life threw at me.
"Oh, I just, uh…" you stutter, tensing up. You eye the crone, then back outside the tent. For a moment, the air thickens with anticipation, until…

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming I stick close to my character's capabilities and limitations, and attempt to use more open ended actions that use vagueness to insinuate that it could potentially miss. (Ex: "Raising his fist he aimed a punch at the man, hoping to connect it directly to his jaw." Using words like aimed and hoping to create opportunities for a reaction instead of saying it automatically connected.)
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts roleplay due to the fact it's information the character wouldn't have normally and is often done in order to get an advantage over someone else. It isn't done for storytelling purposes and the only intent is to use it as leverage against another.
