You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: "Well, my story is simple. I was raised in a normal family, surrounded by normal friends. After leaving my village to travel, I learned of the power that can be found in magic and swords. I seek out power and wealth in order to take my place in the world. Even if I have to steal, kill, and plunder, I will get my name out in the world to claim my spot in the legacy of our world. With my friends I've met along the way, we'll take our place in Almaris one way or another."

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: You could avoid powergaming by staying out of situations that your character's rp would not interact with and calling an admin if these actions persist. You also take into account what your character's abilities would actually allow them to do. You can avoid it by using "attempts" or "tries" to do an action that is normally very difficult, and you could also just avoid absolutes or powerful actions entirely.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by introducing unfair or disadvantageous interactions. So, in order to not metagame, it is best to only interact or respond with ways that your in-game character would respond or understand.
