You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

The man sits down slowly and carefully. "Well.. As much as I should be concerned about your knowledge of my identity, I don't often get this opportunity." He inhales deeply, taking in his grotesque environment. "I'm Vin. Elkhenfar. I'm from a hole in the wall town. Something like this, actually. My parents both worked, so I was usually at home, hungry. I took up poetry, to.. to distract myself, I think. I wrote about things around me. Mundane things- but they came from the perspective of a Naive child. It made them interesting. So interesting, that people began to come to readings and performances of them. Only locally, of course. Now, I travel endlessly, searching for a place that will be appreciative of my skills." He chuckles quietly, pulling out a notebook and pointing it at her, smirking. "Now.. it's your turn. How do you know me, strange woman?"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming, constantly keep in mind who and what your character is, and the setting/premise you are contributing to. If you're a half-orc wizard in dungeons and dragons, you can't pull out a lightsaber, and drive away in a McLaren after using it to kill everybody in the room and then yourself.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming consists of using out-of-character information to gain an upper hand in roleplay, which is in all aspects, completely unfair. It ruins the experience for those you are playing with by taking advantage of information they share with you.
