You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. She hands it to me and says, “You’re a brave one, aren’t you? Seeking the head of a red dragon. Do you know what you’re getting yourself into?” She leans closer and lowers her voice. “Red dragons are the fiercest and most cunning of their kind. They breathe fire that can melt steel and stone. They hoard treasures beyond your wildest dreams. And they are very, very old. They have seen empires rise and fall, wars come and go, heroes live and die. They are not easily fooled or killed.” She pauses and looks into your eyes. “So tell me, why do you want to slay a red dragon? What is your motive?” "i want to prove myself as a hero.”The old hag shakes her head and sighs. “A hero, you say? And what makes you think that killing a dragon will make you a hero? Do you think that people will praise you and reward you for your deed? Do you think that the dragon has harmed anyone or anything that deserves your vengeance? Do you think that you have the right to take a life that has lasted longer than your entire lineage?” She takes a sip of her own root beer and says, “You are young and foolish, my child. You do not understand the consequences of your actions. You do not know the secrets of the dragon. You do not know the price of your ambition.” She leans back and smiles sadly. “But I suppose you will not listen to an old hag like me. You have made up your mind, and nothing I say will change it. Very well, then. I will tell you what I can offer for slaying the dragon. But be warned, it is not what you expect.” She reaches under her cushion and pulls out a small leather pouch. She opens it and reveals a handful of shiny coins. “This is all I have,” she says. “A few pieces of gold and silver. Not much, I know. But it is all I can spare. And it is all you will get from me.” She tosses the pouch to you and says, “Take it or leave it. It’s your choice.” She looks at you with a curious expression. "That's enough please take the money for the beer. Goodbye!”
