You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Gans sits down on the cushion cautiously confused as to how woman knew of him, "Hello, I am Gans but I assume you already knew that" he gets comfortable. "I apologize, it may be a bit long. It all started at my birth; I was abandoned in a forest when I was just a baby." He looks to the ground hiding his disappointment. "I hold no resentment to my real parents; I do not know their circumstances but it still does hurt me that they were to abandon me as a newborn" he sighs and looks back up to the old hag. "My adoptive parents were forest elves who when they found me accepted me into their family and raised me as their own. I'm thankful to them and I love them very much." He smiles as he reminisces of his family. "But as I grew up though I noticed that things around me changed but the people didn't, years passed and yet people seemed to be stagnant whilst I changed. I realized I was the outlier." He looks up to the ceiling of the tent, watching as the candles float in the air. "I left my home, and my loving family; a human raised in an elven society is bound to be estranged to everything regardless of how many years they spend there. Afterall a human's lifespan is but a drop in compared to an elf's." He looks at the old hag "I've told you my story, might I hear yours?"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming, I tend to play the underdog, initially viewing those around me from afar or interacting enough to understand and reference what I can and can't do.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: This plays into powergaming in my opinion and can result in the manipulation of events. Such as knowing another person's character backstory and knowing that their character is allergic to peanuts and using said information to kill the character by putting peanut butter into their jam sandwich despite your own character of course not knowing there was an allergy to peanuts. Of course that is an exaggerated example but metagaming results in a general forceful change in actions for other players and provides an unfair advantage for the person metagaming since using the information that their character doesn't know.
