Gaelio had been watching the shore line grow ever since the ship’s crew had called out the spotting. Eagerness and excitement welling up inside his gut at the sights and smells that slowly grew in detail. Or perhaps that was the sickening tossing of the boat upon the waves? Either way, Gaelio found himself one of the first passengers to make it to the dock when the gangway had been set...
Eying the well dressed sir he blinked for a few moments in silence. Realizing that this man was speaking to him he wet his lips. “I’m, just passing through.” he cleared his throat. “Long trip across the water you know... eager to go out and stretch my legs on solid ground.” he’d smile warmly at the stranger and start to walk off, not exactly trusting this person to be wholly good. The man nodded at that, going to follow him in stride.
“Oh! but of course of course. How right you are, I know I’d want to stretch my legs! I’m Eolgultcher Grandplatypus. And you are?” The man walked with a rather hunched gait, rubbing many ringed fingers together in what could only be considered a comically sleazy fashion. Rolling his eyes and patting his side to make sure his coin purse was still affixed to the inside of his coat Gaelio nodded with a sigh.
“yes yes.. I’m Fareed.” He did not slow down and continued on his path through the market, glancing to the sides now and then at the abundant wealth of supply on display. The glint of the man’s rings caught his eye for a moment, a bubble of displeasure settling in his throat. It was likely a single one of them could get one or even both of his sisters either an education or dowry. And this man found it necessary to adorn every digit with multiple. Some even adorned with gemstone setting. “Pleasure to meet you.”
The man continued to follow Gaelio all the way up to the gates where guards were lazily watching the throng of peoples passing by, occasionally rubbing their brows under the sun. When one of the guards took notice of the man and stood up away from the wall with a squint the sleazy man quickly sidestepped into the crowd and vanished. Gaelio paused and glanced around, looking for the rather colorful individual. Seeing that his instincts were right to mistrust the man he patted his purse one mor- his purse... was gone?! Whipping back around and looking with more earnest for the pick pocket yielded nothing... but a good lesson.
