You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”


The man who entered was a rather tired-looking individual, there were dark circles beneath his sunken blue eyes, and his lips were dry and cracked from disuse. He looked puzzled, but too tired to question. Taking a seat on the tattered cushion, and a soft crackling voice began to speak. "I am Rayleigh Blackwood. I come from nowhere, I'm headed nowhere, and all things considered, I think you'll probably be the last person I'll ever see. My father was the only person I ever really knew, and from the moment I was born, he never missed an opportunity to tell me that this is where I would end up. He knew the second he was gone, I would never be able to survive the world's cruelties. And he was right, I took one step off our doorstep, and I found nothing but curses cast on me. Brigands to steal away all my supplies, animals that seemed to know my every step in order to deftly evade me, and wolves to chase me into a tree for three nights straight. So, you want to know who I really am? I'm nobody. A scream in the forest no one will ever hear, probably." He looks the cryptic looking hag over once more, and almost winces. "So.. before I gain anymore curses, I think I'll be on my way."
