You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"They told me I would find you here.. I am searching for my families treasure. It was stolen many years ago" I move into the room, weary of the old hag. "I was told for a price, you can help me on my journey." The old hag laughs. "Yes.. yes.. for a price. What is this treasure that you seek?"
I watch the old hag hesitantly. The air in the room appears to thicken. "I am looking for my families gold from the mines under the mountain I grew up in." The old hag moves towards me as I feel cold air rush through my veins.
"Ahh... yes... I can see your family fleeing during the fires." I wince at the memory. "You must head north.. but first." The old hag smiles a terrible smile. "You must pay."
"What is the price?" I say as prepare for the worst.
"You must bring me a skull of a skeleton, the charcoal of an oak, and three diamonds."
"That doesn't seem so hard." I say rather confidently. "I will be back shortly."
As I leave the old hag begins to laugh as she turns into a young women. "He will never know that I am the one who holds the treasure. Not until it is too late!" The young sorceress continues to laugh to herself.
