You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
The man's gaze would slowly turn to the hag as he takes in his surroundings for a moment, taking a seat he would pause for a moment before speaking "I would not doubt it as surely someone informed you on my arrival into town, a pleasure to meet you. And as for my story..." Jameson would pause again, pondering to himself silently as he contemplates where to begin "let us start where my journey began, if that is alright with you madam, I was once a fine sailor in my youth, worked on the ship of a tradesman as a crewman, wasn't enjoyable but it gave me a chance to see what the world has to offer, for I have always been fascinated with the more mechanical workings of the world, in both the sense of creations that make our lives easier, and also the sense of creations derived of magic, and someone's imagination. so I set out on my own, searching so I could learn more and create my own creations, this gauntlet I wear for example, while it may server no purpose, but it might someday, as its functionality as armor is none at all, and it has nothing giving it a special use, however it is something I keep with me as a reminder of my goal, but that was a tad off topic. after setting sail a few years later...somewhere in my twenties I set out on my own to look for these creations, and I eventually found myself here. speaking to you madam." Jameson would finish his thought as he would sit forward in his stool a bit to get comfortable with a bit of a smile "Now that I have told my story, would you mind telling me yours, for it is only fair if I get to learn more about you, as you have learned about me."

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: The best way to avoid power gaming is to not force actions onto other players, like describing how a player reacts to a situation or how they say something when in reality they don't as you are trying to play someone else's character for them.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by causing not only lore inconsistencies, but also roleplay which revolves around knowledge you should not have, for example, if you know oocly of a magic that is extremely rare in the world and is only something of legends and mention it in character and can describe it down to the very color it is there will be problems, however it gets worse when you metagame actions of other players, for example if someone commits a huge crime and gets away with it, you can't just go in character and say 'oh such and such did this!' if you were not even on the scene or had no clue of it happening in character.
