The_Odieman

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"Oh im sorry, I must have taken a wrong turn... wait... expecting me?"
The crone: "Yes indeed, now take a seat"
A shiver runs down your spine as you think of the implications. "Well I, have travelled far, a little rest would do me good, thank you".

"If you have been expecting me, then surely you know my story already? 
Crone: "Humour me"

Your limbs tighten for a moment as the cold glare of the crone pierces you, before eventually relaxing.
You start telling the crone your story. How you grew up in a small town, the son of a merchant and his wife. You wanted to travel and see the world, but your duties kept you at home. From a young age you trained with sword and bow with your uncle in the woods, that is whenever you could find the time. Your uncle, a retired soldier, taught you to hunt and to defend yourself. Life went on in the peacefully in the village. One year ago though, your life was turned upside down. Whilst hunting in the woods, a raiding party attacked your village. Upon returning everyone was either missing or dead, including your parents. Your uncle had also passed a few years ago to old age.

"There was nothing keeping me there anymore, and so I have been travelling, both to find a new life, and to hopefully one day avenge my village" "I was told to seek you out, for the wise woman knows much they say". I am able of body and and some would say resourcefull". "Help me find those responsible for the attack, or someone willing to help me, and I will return the favour in any way I can"

The crone chuckled at this last remark. "Maybe I have a use for you, and maybe not, we shall see..."
