How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I stick to my character's canon abilities which are defined by their job class, race, age and experience. Personally, I prefer it when my character is challenged by the world or struggles, it's such a good opportunity for character development. If I ever do happen to do something another person disagrees with, I am happy to pause, reset and continue on a path where we're both happy.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It's very unrealistic, and it can ruin the fun in investigating in-character, or spoil a surprise that would otherwise have occurred. Even if I as a player know the information, I wouldn't want my character to necessarily know it. Omnipotence is the playground of the gods.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

As Natsu'ki trudged through the muddy ground to enter the worn-down tent, a single sentiment was highlighted in his mind- 'This place.. smells like home.'

It may be off-putting to some, but Natsu couldn't have been more at ease in the midst of this humid, earthy town. If it wasn't for his pre-determined priorities, he may very well have taken a longer time to admire this settlement that emulated the very belly of nature itself, by, well, rolling in the mud perhaps.

Alas, he in surrenders to the confines of the tent. A stranger's voice calls out as the wood elf is stood blinking at the sudden influx of light.

This is, much fire. He hesitantly nods in greeting. This must be a fire hag, no doubt about it. (OOC: There are doubts about it.)

Natsu folds his arms and takes a seat on his knees at the hag's instruction, hoping that keeping his limbs at bay would help to avoid being lit alight.

He ponders at the hag's question for a moment. A story, she says? He would have to do his best then, to tell a story of the absolute finest quality.

Natsu leans in, clearing his throat. His expression is serious.

"I am from the trees." He states bluntly. "From the deep summer night, I walked from the tree." Natsu gestures the growing motion of tree before his hands settled in the air as the night sky.

"The leaves whispered to me, walk. Walk, Natsu." His fingers shake like leaves in the wind, then he places his hands on his knees.

"So Natsu walked." A simple shrug. The mysterious atmosphere is shattered like a dropped glass of milk. "I like the forest, but the trees told me to walk and find something - I don't know what that is, but you won't believe all the things I've found so far!" He starts recounting his finds on his fingers, "A creased pebble the colour of sand, a heavy bird's father, beads of the sun and sky, even this fruit!"

Natsu pulls out a fruit. It is unrecognizable, for it is now mold. He is undisturbed by this and continues-

"Others have been very kind, very kind - they take the things I find and give me other things. Others are not so kind, they take my things and take another one of my things." He scratches his chin with a hint of annoyance. "I must shoot them next time." Natsu nods to himself, making a mental note to acquire a bow and arrow.

"I will look at everything. I will walk everywhere. I will find a lot of things. Then I will go home and bring it back to the tre-"

He paused. A look of realization and confusion on his face.

"Wait.. home? Are the trees home?" Natsu'ki ponders the question very carefully. He looks to the hag. "Do you know where that is? ... I think I will have to ask as many people as I can find."
