my character would greet him kindly like this:
'well salutations good sir, I have come to acquire some rare herbs and if I can find them some rare books.'
then my character would walk a bit further, turn around and take out some potions to sell to the stranger.
furthermore, he would even try and trade them for magic books or other mystical artifacts. After that my character
would say: "Goodbye and have a great day!"
after that I would await his response.
