You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Illera wasn't caught completely off guard, but she was caught by enough surprise to let out a yelp before calming herself with a deep breath and a clearing of her throat, taking a few cautious steps towards the cushion. "Well you don't exactly find the oddities of alchemy in palaces and castles." Despite the scare the intro brought upon the young elf she forced a warm smile and draped one leg over another. "My story? Well its not a particularly interesting one..." She pulled out a leather bound notebook and flipped to the beginning. Daily Log one.
Backstory:
Illera was born into an unfortunate situation, barely living day to day as she helped her parents around the house and tend to the homestead, however once she was old enough to set out on her own her family sent her on her way to try and make a name for herself. With nothing but a satchel of bread, a cask of water, and a leather bound notebook Illera had a new goal in life, help her family out of poverty. While on her adventure she discovered a natural love for small critters and plants, making sure to document everything she found and keeping samples of new and unique flora and fauna she encountered on her journey. Now she's in search of a place she can settle down and grow roots of her own, however thin they may be.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I personally try to heavily ground my characters to the reality that they are in specifically to avoid these godlike scenarios and situations, giving them humanlike flaws and traits while also making sure to double over my posts to ensure that this is a realistic reaction to the scene unfolding before them. If I'm the victim of this type of roleplay I try to disengage in a scene proper way and then report the instance to those in charge of handling a player powergaming. Depending on the severity of the situation I may also screenshot the scene just as proof of the powergaming.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming can ruin the roleplay experience in a lot of ways and none of them are acceptable and fun for the victim party, using a third party program to obtain outside knowledge can prepare you for upcoming conflicts too give you an unfair edge. Metagaming can also ruin any hopes of having anything secret at all, or even knowing exactly how to thwart a player or other enemy by knowing their weaknesses out of character and meta'ing the knowledge. Also having information that you've learned outside of roleplay can be completely unfair to those who have put in the time and effort to actually obtain said knowledge.
