Being approached by a gentleman she did not know was surprising, but she remained calm. He’d asked her a fair question after all. What was she doing in this city? She knew the answer, of course, but, not wanting to appear foolish, cause the gentleman to dislike her or share her intentions with someone obviously less that her, Elmyra smiled as she lied through her teeth. “The city is beautiful – I only mean to explore.”
Truly, she had business to attend to, but that was not something to be shared with an unfamiliar face. “Pardon me.” She said, intending to walk past him and continue on her to her business.
