How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: In roleplay players have to come together as a community as they engage in roleplay. While that is a fact there are many players who choose to see the roleplaying scene as a place where they can shine as the protagonist, as the center of the story and this can lead to powergaming. Where they act in ways to benefit their story, their roleplay, and not the community's. This can be avoided by accepting your role as a person in a world, where your choices matter but are not the ultimate decision factor. Being able to accept things happening to your character and understanding that you are not all powerful are keys to avoid powergaming.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Being able to separate OOC and ICLY experiences and knowledge is crucial to a healthy roleplay. While it is very common that people roleplay based on their own experiences, it is also true that players get a lot of information their characters would have no idea of knowing from OOC experiences. Knowing what your character should know and what you do is the pivotal point of avoiding Metagaming.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"Oh... My story?" He chuckled with nervousness filling his voice as he continued. "Well, you see, I... Seem to be looking for the answer for that question myself!" He chuckled, seemingly being more comfortable joking about his circumstance rather than seeing it as a serious and dire situation. He continued with a more confident tone in his voice. "There are a few things I remember! I love music and nature- truly my passion! I'm a dark elf and my name is Fosudva Besartho!" He seemed confident despite not knowing much about himself, his past, or what he plans to do. He leaned forward onto the table to speak. "Enough about me! Do you perhaps have a map I can take a look at or borrow? You see, I have many places to be and I seem to have forgotten my directions!" He gave an optimistic smile as he awaited an answer.

Lore/Background/Origin:

While being part of an average size family in Vortice, Fosudva Besartho grew in tune with nature along with developing his belief in Shamanism.  He inherited his passion for music from his father, who in his younger years dreamt of venturing the world with music. While his mother showed him the beauty of nature and its benefits to the elf kind, which also led to his awareness of Shamanism. He gained his charismatic and playful characteristics  from his siblings, as they goofed around while doing chores and other menial everyday tasks. His safe and brightful environment allowed him to be unfearful of his future. Later on in his life, leading to today’s time, his family decided to chase after beliefs and dreams, stationing them in their home today, which is the Principality of Nor’Asath. He is now older, where his masculine features were more apparent, his eyes mutated to a Tuscan Sun hue and his hanged low shoulders presented a relaxed and carefree aura. He could be a formal, well mannered man, but chooses to present himself as a carefree, charismatic, goofy guy. With no burdens on his back, he began his independent journey around Almaris. At one point in his journey, he came across a magic user that bore ill intent towards him, leading to his coma that caused his major memory loss. Luckily he survived and awoke in Sedan, to where it seemed he was being taken to Haenes by a friendly merchant. On the way, the Merchant informed Fosu regarding the affairs and relations of the Nations and more specifically Haense, where he was heading. Being dropped off in the nearby settlement, he once again began on his journey, now to both fulfill his goals and regain his lost memories.
