Du dukker dig og træder ind i et laset telt, oplyst af en række stearinlys, der hænger i luften. Bagerst i teltet løfter en gammel hag hovedet: "Hvad bringer dig til denne snuskede by? begynder hun og holder så en pause for at studere dit ansigt – »Åh, det er dig. Jeg har ventet dig. Sæt dig," gestikulerer hun mod en pude, "Fortæl mig din historie."
