You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"My name is Randos Hestin, I just came from the coast." Randos sits down on the cushion, looking at the old hag. "I'm looking to buy a sword. I'm on the run from a group of bandits." He looks at the tent entrance, worried. "Could you point me in the right direction?"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I believe that sticking to your character's personality is very important when it comes to avoiding powergaming. If your character wouldn't just run into a fight and do something extreme, then don't do that. I think that not powergaming becomes easier with experience. It's also vital to read the situation and players around you and to kind of match the vibe/energy.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming is not fair because this information can be used to your character's advantage. When metagaming happens, it leads to unrealistic decision-making, imbalance of power, and heavily reduced immersion.
