You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example: I was born an albino. It's a rare condition where you are completely devoid of melanin, turning your hair and skin white, and eyes red. Because of this I was named Ender, which means "exceptionally rare". I was also cast out by my peers for looking like a ghost. My parents, though were always accepting of me and my father, being a blacksmith, taught me how to make my own weapons and armor. As a ritual in my family when I came of age, I forged what I now wear and the weapons I use because relying on others has not often been helpful. I rarely remove my helmet other than to eat and sleep and wander around the world helping fight in battles I find along the way.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I generally don't go for a min-max approach and try to flesh out my characters in roleplay around their story or purpose based on backstory and necessity of the situation.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It creates problems in roleplay by giving an unfair advantage to certain players possibly by preparing them for something they haven't encountered, leaving everyone else trying to accomplish the same goal with the same information in the dust.
