    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I would say that Metagaming in this aspect refers to Players using situational knowledge to their advantage that their Characters simply wouldn't posses. Ex: I know via a Discord chat that Kingdom ABC has taken control over a nearby settlement near where my character is staying. I then go online and use the chaos to plunder and steal items. This would be metagaming because my Chracter wouldn't know about this until finding it out in game.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: I was confused on this at first, but I realize now what you are asking for. Powergaming is when a Player states their actions in a very linear motion, with little room for counteractions to occur; OR when a player has their character preform actions that are completely out of line with their Characters natural ability. Ex: While playing DnD my son's character (a human fighter) says that he uses a spell to slay a Dragon by himself. This would be power gaming: 1 because a human vs a Dragon 1v1 would not be a realistic scenario for a victory and 2 because his character does know any type of magical abilities.

Seeing that the man would most likely look confused, Charleston would undoubtedly just stand and stare at him.

"I do say, go and tell your Lord that I appreciate his hospitality, but I have no business with him unless he seeks to aid me in my endeavors to restore the Frozen Flame. Now, I must be on my way."

Walking away Charleston would likely be mumbling to himself about how ignorant the Lord in the area must be considering how his welcoming party was.
