    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Realizing my characters limitations. Also, I‘d say to avoid over-glorifying your character and giving them unnecessary special abilities. This prevents your own character from being invincible and gives the other player a chance to actually win against you or your main character. In short: just try to be fair, don't try to make your character "too special".

    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay because it gives one roleplayer an unfair advantage over the other. Metagaming is essentially using knowledge that your character wouldn't have access to and it allows the player who has it to make decisions that would influence and impact the course of the roleplay in their favour.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

*I Would sigh and sit on the cushion, my eyes scanning the lady carefully as she speaks.* I would reply in a polite but slightly bored tone.

"I ventured to this swamp in search of a clue to aid me on my quest, for I seek to conquer a formidable adversary who was seen around here. Might you be privy to some knowledgeable that could assist me on my quest, kind mistress."
