    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Using knowledge that my in-game character wouldn't have access to.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Making your narrative without respecting the ideas or actions of others.

While feeling extremely uncomfortable he would at first just say "Hi, I'm just traveling through". And try to avoid any further conversation by walking away. But if the person persisted with asking questions he would ask "Just out of curiosity what is this wealth you speak of?" This is in hopes of finding out about someone or something wealthy to steal.
