You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
Example:
Kalvin shuffles uncomfortably into a sitting position, crossing his legs. He looks around the dark tent with the deep blue candle illumination with an eerie feeling vibrating in his chest. He turns back to the old hag and scratches his pure blonde hair. He motions to open his lips but notices the old hag's annoyed face. Was she upset at him? Regardless, he had to explain everything he had seen on his journey here.
"Miss Cuthra, I've been on a journey to the Vale of Tiwoshee. There I found something unsettling." Kalvin took out a sheet of paper and unfolded it so that Miss Cuthra could see it. He pointed on the paper, tracing with his finger, "From the valley's edges exists a one-hundred foot wall that did not exist there ten years ago. I was not able to cross this high wall."
He stood up, walking around the tent's space and marking a variety of highpoints, "There are some vantage points to see inside the vale, but I am worried about the mountain dwellers. This is my report." He bowed.

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: You avoid powergaming by being conscious of what your character is capable of and not exaggerating the capabilities of a character. It's okay to push the boundaries, but it's never okay to endlessly go on into a toxic frenzy where players continually do more and more absurd actions to "be the best." You can avoid this by communicating your intentions in an OOC chat with the other participants.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming is what I call cheap roleplaying. It takes outside knowledge and cheapens the experience for everyone involved. It dirties continuity and brings about dissatisfaction for everyone. It's not fair, but more importantly, it's one of the biggest roleplaying turn-offs.
