You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Grabbing a pint of mead, I take a seat across from the old hag and finish in one swift gulp. my name is Roman the Unholy, and I am the bringer of vengeance. as a child I saw much injustice from the wrongfully accused being punished to the wicked get great power but none of that compared to what I saw happen to my home...to my family. as a boy I would roam the highlands with my best friend and brother now known as Lewis the Mad, we would play at being rangers and imagine ourselves helping all in middle earth with our sword skills and sense of right. One day while playing our games when all was going well, we started to hear screams then we smelt smoke. We rushed back to our village only to see a massacre our homes cloaked in flames that reached the skies and the people we called friends strewn across the fields like ragdolls. It was in the midst of this madness that I heard it the screams of my sweet sister my INNOCENT SISTER! Isabel, I rushed to my hut and there she was she looked...pale. As I fell to my knees wiping the tears from her eyes and the blood from her chin, I heard those monsters chant a name ROGNAR! as I looked out the window, I saw them smile and cheer as the half-burned man strutted around like a god. That face I will never forget that face. I returned to Lewis his skin was pale and his eyes glassy both of us knew there was no innocence anymore it was there that we swore our revenge. The gods abandoned us that day two children I spit at them for that...but when I find the burned man maybe they will repay the injustice.
