    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: just dont do it. if my character is unfairly powerful to the point where its not fun for the other players, then ill tone down their power or give my characters weaknesses to combat it. if someone else is powerplaying, ill politely tell them to stop.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: its not fair because realistically the characters in game shouldnt know about info talked about ooc. it would give an unfair advantage and would destroy any immersion in the rp.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"You've been expecting me? well that's a bit odd. Seeing as i've never heard of you before." I sit on the soft cushion, the lady seems old and wise. maybe it's best to entertain her for this short while.
 

"I am Anneth. An Adunian. i excel in blacksmithing and inventing, ill mend and craft the weapons of anyone who pays enough. perhaps ill find work in this little town of yours, after all i have a mouth to feed." i pause, putting on a melancholy face.

 

"mine!" I chuckle.

 

 the lady seems unamused.
