You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"My story, huh? I should cut you down for asking such a question. However, I feel like sharing today. My story begins in a small village in the Kingdom of Haense. I don't remember much. My mother was a high elf and my father was a highlander. I don't remember much about who they were. When I was five, my village was burned to the ground by Orcs and all the children were rounded up and tossed in cages. All the adults, who didn't die in the fire, were brought before the cages and had their throats slit. My parents survived the fire. They didn't survive the knife. I watched them bleed out. I started screaming and yelling at the Orcs. They got annoyed and one of them slashed their knife across my face, giving me the scar I have now. The cages full of kids were loaded onto carts and dragged off. I was brought and sold to a High Elven village. The High Elf I was sold to was the chief of his village. He hated how impure my blood was. One day, when I was twelve, he decided I wasn't worthy of having elven ears and brought me before the village. He cut the tips of my ears off. He made me an example of why interbreeding wasn't tolerated and the consequences of defying that rule. When I was fourteen, the Chief had enough of me and gave me to slave traders. The slave traders were about to sell me to a tribe of Orcs when they were assassinated by an assassin from the assassins guild. She decided to take pity on me and gave me to the assassins guild to become one of them. And I did. For three years, I assassinated hundreds. When I was seventeen, the assassins guild I was part of got disbanded and I've been roaming ever since. That's it. That's my story."
