How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is using some information that you have gathered outside of what your character knows. Using said information you gain an advantage on other players because you know somethings that you shouldn't. For example a group of enemies is coming to attack you and a friend tells you this so you have time to prepare and defend yourself.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is creating a character which has a god like powers rendering the game unfair and unfun for other players. When you powergame you create a character which has weapons or other types of options to attack or defend that make it basically impossible to kill. An example is if a player creates a character that one hit kills other players or that is invulnerable to any kind of damage.
