    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: A well used strategy used by a majority of players.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Never heard of this term before.

I would respond by telling him that my interest is first finding a place to rent out for the night and eat, then looking for jobs to go out and hunt or some labor for extra currency to have to live at the city for a while. Then I would ask if he would be willing to show me around the town and give any hints of areas that are cheaper than others, shop wise and housing wise.
