    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming one must firstly be empathetic towards their fellow rpers and always keep in mind that they are also trying to be immersed into the world. Secondly one must realise that acting in a way that benefits plot and the story is more important than having it go their way. In order for that to happen the rper must have a solid character foundation and keep their rp small scale and realistic.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Metagaming breaks the rpers immersion in the story and dismisses the storytelling of other players. Also players who metagame may have unfair advantages in encounters or negotiations, skewing the dynamics of the game and potentially causing frustration among those who prefer to engage in fair and balanced rp.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”


I take a deep breath and sit down, my eyes staring emptily at the candles before me as they move rythmically up and down.  I place my short bow next to me. "Me and my brother..."  i murmur in a weak voice "We had to leave our town, or at least what remained of it. We were never rich and poverty had always been our companion but after father passed away we lost all we had." I take a deep breath. "All i am left with is his coat"  I continue, my fingers absently tracing the frayed edges of the worn garment draped over my shoulders. I lower my gaze from the candles and my eyes meet hers.
