How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: I always review the things my character is capable of doing at that current moment before preforming any actions. Fighting techniques, knowledge on things, or simply preforming everyday actions, I always think about the realistic ways my character would manage these things that would make total sense of what they're currently capable of. Acting as a god and doing the impossible just isn't fun, as it would allow one to solve a problem with any solution they see fit, which ruins the fun of problem solving. Not to mention that it's fun to loose sometimes! It gives the character who lost a reason to try and improve themselves to become better at the thing they failed at!
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: The best experience is roleplaying is getting to know another character and connect with them. Working with them and gathering information at a smooth pace helps create a strong bond or rivalry between two characters, deepening the roleplay experience. If someone ends up metagaming just to get the upper hand on something, whether it be persuasion or battling advantage, it can easily disrupt the flow of the scene and lead to awkward moments of wondering how the other character got a hold of such information, which usually ends up in arguments and annoyance. Metagaming not only disrupts fair roleplay, but it also removes the fun out of it entirely!

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

"Been around for a few days and I'm already getting noticed? Alright then-", Giving the cape behind his back a swipe with both of his arms, Arthur approaches the furniture and Hag before settling down on the cushion, shuffling the sword sheath besides both of his hips to keep himself comfortable. He seemed barely bothered by the state of the tent, or the floating candles hanging above his head, more interested in telling his tale, "If you know me, you should know why I'm here! But a little refresher wouldn't hurt! My name is Arthur Adir, and I'm a chaser of fables and fairytales!"

"Ever since I was a little lad, I was constantly being told stories; Some from the distant past, while others foretold the future. However, as they say, it's hard to believe things that you cannot see. And so, with the help of a friend and growing age, I set away from home to this new land to try and uncover if some of these stories are true or not! It's not the most complicated of beginnings, but I find that a lot of the smaller things can easily get me going into grand adventures!"

Arthur gives out a hearty chuckle, before eventually leaning forward towards the old hag, eyes filled with boundless optimism, "But enough about me. You said you were expecting me, so that means you have something important to say. I hope it's a lead on something truly out of this world..."
