On the 15th of Godfrey’s Triumph, 1680, Claytonius was born to Romulus and Lucia Maximus in the newly founded capital city of Carolustadt.
Romulus had served in the Imperial State Army for a time, where he fought in the Atlas Coalition war. More specifically, the siege of Ruriksgrad. Being that it was such a shellacking, this weighed heavily on Romulus’ mind. After the war, Romulus settled into the Capital City and was well respected amongst the middle class citizens of the city. In his time he owned several successful taverns, a decent home, and a respectable cabin retreat on the shores of the great lake outside the city. There was one detail marring the family name, however. Lucia and Claytonius were his second family. Claytonius is a bastard. While respectful enough to Romulus, Lucia and Claytonius bore the brunt of society’s spurns and abuse. Lucia taught Claytonius in the way of the arcane arts. It was Lucia’s great hope her son would be an intellectual (which Clay found believed to be a waste of time); whilst Romulus had Claytonius educated to a satisfactory level in reading and writing, and did a watered down version of the State Army
