Pitaya was born to a pair of halfling parents living as sheep herders in the Northwestern Mountains. An only child and a rather lonely one, Pitaya developed a love of the animals, mostly sheep, and nature. Based on her parents' isolated lifestyle, she seldom saw other people, and almost never met other children. Her loneliness as a child brought about a deep curiosity about faraway lands and the people who lived within them. At the age of twenty, she began her wandering, intending to travel to the Holy Orenian Empire, as it was truly the only large major city she’d heard of. However, instead of making it there or to any other large city, Pitaya came across an advertisement from House Grimoire offering employment. Pitaya, being quite fine with doing chores and excited at the prospect of meeting new people, went off in search of this job.
