Aelar is the bastard of Wyndel Shos, a well-respected merchant in the eclectic Federation of Sudica. Wyndel refuses to let Aelar bear his surname, so Aelar gives himself his own last name – Rivers. Wyndel also claims that Aelar’s mother is dead – although Aelar is indifferent, as he resents his mother for having left him with his cruel father. Unloved by his father and family, Aelar spent most of his time growing up learning on the streets and outskirts of Sudica, raising himself through trial and error. During this time, he grew both mentally and physically into a strong survivor. Raised in a melting pot of varying grasps of identity – and a home of hard knocks – Aelar never felt like he belonged to anything. Wishing to connect more with his heritage and nature as a wood elf, Aelar seeks adventure, exploration, and the arcane in the wilds of Arcas, and is interested in one day learning from the masters at the Druidic Order. His ultimate goal is to build a life where he feels he belongs, and is finally worth something.
