Valir was raised in a very strict household. His father considered himself blessed to have a child, and wanted to raise Valir to be the best man that a father could want. Because of this, many expectations and ideals were taught to Valir. The moment he could walk, his father began to try and train his body. From the moment that Valir could talk, his father began to try and teach him tactics. Valir ended up being very quiet and self-doubting. He did not want to disappoint his father, not any of his ancestors that had allowed him to have a chance at life. Valir’s mother was not harsh on him, and instead tried to give him the love that his father was not providing. While Valir respected his father and saw him as a hero, he did not truly love his father. Valir’s mother could see that the relationship between son and father was distant, she attempted to convince his father that the relationship between himself and Valir was not good, and that his father should be more loving. This would eventually put a major wedge into their relationship, as their differing ideals on how to raise Valir clashed too constantly. Eventually, Valir’s father moved to the citadel of Acael, taking Valir with him. Valir was ten at the time, and hasn’t seen his mother since. For the next five years in the citadel, Valir continued to be educated and taught whatever his father saw as necessary to be enrolled into the military. It was during this time that Valir had his first experience with religion. Though not super impactful on his life, his father was a firm believer in the Faith of the Seven, and would have Valir go with him whenever his father visited the church of the citadel. During these trips, Valir was told to be completely silent and respectful, only ever talking if he must. Though he always considered the trips a pain, he always found refuge in the great libraries that were there. The wealth of information excited him in such a way that little else could. His military training would also take place here, however, over the majority of it, Valir was unable to hold down any friends. His companions would usually leave him behind, usually making him the forgotten one. Not letting this set him behind, Valir devoted his extra time to studying and improving his body. Though he became considerably more bitter because of it, Valir would enter military service at the age of fourty instead of the usual fifty. Still mostly considered an outsider, though this time mostly due to his age rather than his inability to hold onto friends, Valir would throw himself fully into any assignment given to him by his higher ups. He had to prove himself useful, or he would disappoint his father. He did not let his body slack during this time either, and continued to train himself in any way that he could. His time in the library at the church of the Faith of the Seven dwindled, however he still made a point to go once every month to attempt to visit. After serving for thirteen years at the Citadel, Valir received a transfer. He would be sent to Princedom of Fenn, and work there until further notice, assisting them in any way possible. Gathering his meager belongings, Valir left with due haste.
