    The Wronged:

The True Sons & Daughters of Tungdil

    The Assailant:

    The Bastard Grimgold Clan

    The Wrong:

    Firstly:

The Grimgold Clans repeated attempts to lie and claim the lineage of Tungdil through fabrication of the existence of ‘Theodoric Grimgold’ as his son, in spite of a lack of evidence of this person in either the Gilded Tree or any other official dwarven record.

    Secondly:

Alaric Grimgolds shameful attempt to usurp the Goldhand name at a meeting of the Grand Senate, while still favoring the name of a common clan over the honored Goldhand name, therefore levying a great insult upon the Aurokanar.

    Thirdly:

Alaric Grimgolds attempt to slander the good names of various family members of the Goldhand Clan, as well as his blatant attempt to manipulate the honored Conan Goldhand, and past Clanlords through his lies and deceit.

    Date of Wrongdoing:

    The past two centuries.

    Terms of Settlement:

    Firstly:

That the Grimgolds must henceforth abandon any pretensions of connection to that ancient gloried name, accepting that they no longer have association with the Goldhand Clan nor shall the word gold have any place in their clans name. Any Grimgold with the exception of Alaric Grimgold shall be permitted to approach Clan Lord Conan Goldhand to join the Goldhand Clan, with their own seperate lineages verified by Torsun Goldhand, keeper of the Gilded Tree.

    Secondly:
That Alaric Grimgold must swear an oath to Clan Lord Conan Goldhand to never attempt a usurpation of the Lordship of the Goldhand Clan in the future, and to acknowledge the supremacy of the Elder Goldhand Clan over the common Grimgold Clan.

    Thirdly:

That Alaric Grimgold must apologize for his deceitful actions and pay a weregild of 2.5k Mina as compensation for his slights or else his helmet shall be removed and slanderous tongue ripped out, both goldcasted to be put on display in the Clan Hall of the Aurokanar.

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Water Evocation

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Water evocation is the practice of pulling forth either water or ice from the void (via a voidal connection) and shaping it to your will. The substance brought forth is sustained by the mana of the caster, and as such, will cease to exist as soon as the caster breaks their connection to the void. However, similar to how anything set alight by Fire Evocation will burn even after the evoked flame is gone, anything which is soaked by water evocation will remain wet after casting ends (e.g. if someone is hit with a water blast, their clothes will stay damp even after the caster breaks connection, but no puddles of water caused by the spell will remain).

While the water or ice which is produced is sustained by the casters mana, the caster has control over its size, shape, and color. This is strictly an aesthetic measure that allows the caster to stylize their attacks, and has no effect on the function of the spells being cast.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are two major subsections of Water Evocation: Water spells and Ice spells.

Water spells are the most basic form of water evocation. These spells involve using voidal energy to create water, which can have a wide variety of uses, both in combat and outside of combat.

Ice spells are a more advanced form of water evocation, which involves not only evoking voidal energy to create water, but turning that water into ice. Like the normal water spells, these ice spells also have a wide variety of uses. However, it’s important to note that summoning ice is much more difficult than summoning water, and requires the water evocationist to be at least Tier 3 in the magic, and expend more mana to create and maintain the spells.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

Falk Irongut closes his eyes, standing still and breathing slowly as he draws forth his wand. After a moment, he opens his eyes, revealing a soft golden glow emitting from his irises, signaling a connection to the void.

Falk Irongut raises his wand, gripping it tightly in a clenched fist. Water slowly begins to stream from the wand tip, a gentle flow colliding gently against the floor.

Falk Irongut suddenly, violently snaps his wrist, causing the gentle stream of water to suddenly solidify into a semi-solid whip, cracking as it flits through the air.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Falk Irongut claps his hands together “Roight, Today ah’ll beh teachin yeh teh most basic technique o’ hydromanceh: Conjurin wateh. First, yeh must begin by forgin a connect’n ta teh void, as ah’ve taught yeh ta.” he gestures to his student, signaling for them to begin.

Falk Irongut waits for the student to connect to the void before continuing. “Vereh gud, vereh gud. Now, ah want yeh ta focus ohn teh image o’ ah bubblin mountain stream ehn yeh moind. T’ink ‘bout ‘ow teh water flows t’rough et, teh way et spills o’er teh rocks, ets sound as et flows. Form t’is image solidleh ehn yeh moind.”

Falk Irongut watches the student intently “Vereh gud, now ah want yeh ta extend ah single ‘and, palm facin downwahds, ahn ‘magine t’at stream comin t’rough the palm o’ yeh ‘and ahn spillin out ohn teh floor” he waits patiently for his student to conjure their flame.

“Excellent work!” he gives the student a proud pat on the shoulder “Rest fer now, as ahm sure t’is exercise ‘s ex’austed yeh. Latah, ah want yeh ta practice t’is spell until yeh can maintain yeh teh stream fer some time. P’raps even try ‘oldin teh watah above teh ground, wit’out letting spill out o’er teh floor.”

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If it was their first offense, I would give them a verbal reprimand and have them demonstrate they understood how they had powergamed and how to avoid it in the future. If it was a persistent issue, I would get the ST to speak with them and consider whether or not they should be allowed to keep their magic.

    Treachery of the Goldhand Clan

For centuries, the Dwarven virtue of Greed, as well as our worship of its patron, Grimdugan, has been misunderstood. Younger Dwarves, eager to gain wealth or to lead lives as thieves or brigands, will often invoke these sacred traditions to justify their base actions.

However, in this rhetoric, those dwarves  forsake our valuable traditions of honor and loyalty. They commit these most heinous crimes for nothing more than  a few extra mina.

There is no greater atrocity to Grimdugan than to use his name for the pursuit of evil and the intentions of Khorvad. It saddens me to say, however, that Rylanor Goldhand, son of the great Dorimnur Goldhand, and Torsun Goldhand, Elder of Clan Goldhand, have done just that.

In a war of a coalition of free peoples standing up to the oppressive Empire of Oren, these two dwed have chosen to forsake their country, their kin, and all of their allies. They have chosen to make business with our enemies, going so far as to sell to them the very weapons Oren uses to kill the members of the Tripartite.

For what purpose or end does Clan Goldhand swear off their kin? What lofty goal have they gained for their treason? A tavern. What great betrayal or imagined slight does Clan Goldhand have to justify this? Nothing. There have been no crimes or injustices declared against the clan. There have been no demands that must be met. Instead they make this deal only because they saw profit in it.

With this revelation, comes too several declarations:

THE IMPERIAL-GOLDHAND CONTRACT IS OFFICIALLY DECLARED AN ACT OF TREASON. To declare neutrality with the enemy, and worse yet sign yourself off to their protection is a brazen act of treason against all Urguan, her vassals, and her allies.

Rylanor Goldhand is officially stripped of all titles he holds in Urguan, and is declared an enemy of the state. He has been captured and awaits trial before the High Courts of Urguan, which will take place the stone day this declaration.

Torsun Goldhand is officially stripped of all titles he holds in Urguan, and is declared an enemy of the state. As he is still at large, the Grand Kingdom offers a bounty of 500 mina for his capture. He is to be taken Alive, so that he might face proper trial.

Clan Goldhand, by majority vote of the Grand Council, has had its rights to a vote on the Grand Council temporarily revoked.

All remaining Goldhands are hereby called to appear before the Grand King and the Grand Council, where they will be given the opportunity to publicly disavow Rylanor and Torsun and denounce the agreement they made, in order to save both their own honor and the honor of Clan Goldhand.

MC Item description (the exact description that will be used for the MC item if this MArt is accepted):

A resplendent sphere of Dwarven Make, sized to fit comfortably in the hand of any adult descendant. The sphere itself is composed of a perfectly spherical Titan’s Eye Crystal wrapped in a layer of steel, which has been enriched with voidal power, turning it into inert arcanium. The outer surface of the sphere has been engraved with detailed decoration displaying the founding fathers of the descendant races - Krug the Orc, Malin the Elf, Horen the Human, and Urguan the Dwarf - crowded around a single bright flame. Surrounding the inner circle of the descendant brothers is a collection of draconids, crocodiles, griffons, tropical fowl, and a variety of other exotic creatures. The grooves and ridges of these carvings would give any holder of the sphere a sure grip on the object.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

This artifact can be used to provide additional power to a single combative enchantment.

Linking an item to the Mana Reserve:

The mana reserve can be linked to any item bearing a combative enchantment by any transfigurationist through the creation of a single leyline between the Mana Reserve and the targeted enchanted item. This link provides one of a few possible effects, which are detailed below.

Only one item can be linked to the Mana Reserve at once. However, the enchanted object linked to the Mana Reserve can be changed at any time outside of combat by simply destroying the existing leyline and creating a new link from the Mana Reserve to the new item.

Effect 1: Adding additional uses to combative enchantments

By linking the Mana Reserve to a normal enchantment of any power, the amount of times that enchantment can be used increases according to the table below.

    Tier 1: 5 additional uses

    Tier 2: 4 additional uses

    Tier 3: 3 additional uses

    Tier 4: 2 additional uses

    Tier 5: 1 additional use

For example: A T2 potent enchantment has 2 uses before it must recharge. If linked to the Mana Reserve, this enchantment would instead have 6 total uses.

When the Mana Reserve is used to add additional charges to an enchantment, it cannot be used again for 12 ooc hours. This always applies, even when the full amount of additional charges is not used.

    Effect 2: Increasing spell duration

For enchantments that have a limited duration, such as the water shield spell, the Mana Reserve can increase the duration of the spell, rather than increase the amount of times it can be used. This effect also applies for passive enchantments. The increase in duration follows the table below.

Tier 1: x6 the normal duration

Tier 2: x5 the normal duration

Tier 3: x4 the normal duration

Tier 4: x3 the normal duration

Tier 5: x2 the normal duration

For example, a T2 Water Shield spell can be maintained for 4 emotes under normal circumstances. When linked to the Mana Reserve, an enchantment that summoned a Water Shield could instead be maintained for 20 emotes.

When the Mana Reserve is used to extend the duration of an enchantment, it cannot be used again for 12 ooc hours. This always applies, even when the full amount of extended spell time is not used.

    Effect 3: Empowering enchantments

Instead of increasing the power of a normal spell, the Mana Reserve can instead be used to create an enchantment beyond the normal capabilities of enchantment. For this to be achieved, however, a series of conditions must be met:

    1. The Mana Reserve must be present with the mage during the creation of the enchantment.

    2. The creation of the enchantment must be done through an infusion ritual with at least one other mage.

    3. The spell being enchanted onto the object must be something that two Tier 5 mages could form through a circling ritual, at the discretion of the ST.

    4. The spell being enchanted must be a logical extension of a magic’s current capabilities.

An example of one possible effect would be the creation of a Flame Blast enchantment of double the normal size. If an enchantment is created using the additional power of the Mana Reserve, it will only have 1 use before undergoing a 12 ooc hour recharge period.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    • Only one of the three possible effects can be chosen at a time. An enchantment cannot benefit from a combination of the effects.

    • If an enchanted item is granted additional power through this artifact, it must be explicitly stated in the item’s description.

    • Any item that receives the effects of the Mana Reserve must be ST signed.

    • If the Mana Reserve is used to supersede the normal limitations of a spell (Effect 3), it cannot be used to provide a unique effect. Instead, it can only create a logical development of existing magic effects. (e.g. Imbuing a Flaming Tempest spell with the Blue Fire augmentation)

      • This requirement is entirely subject to the discretion of the ST overseeing the item creation.

    • The Mana Reserve cannot be used to recharge a mage’s personal power, it can only be linked with an enchanted item.

    • If the leyline linking the enchanted item and the Mana Reserve is severed by any means through which a normal leyline is formed, or if the linked item and the Mana Reserve are separated by more than 5 meters, the connection is broken.

      • If the connection is broken, all of the benefits gained from the Mana Reserve are lost until the leyline can be reestablished.

      • If the chosen effect on the item is Effect 3, the enchantment is rendered null until the link can be reestablished, but the enchantment itself does not need to be entirely recreated.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

By the unification of two materials capable of holding large concentrations of mana (Titan’s Eye and Arcanium), a large pool of energy can be stored within a small artifact.

However, the mass of mana cannot be accessed by the mage directly. Instead, by linking it with an item already containing a mass of mana (in the form of an enchantment) via a leyline, which are capable of passing through solid mana and constantly form a linear connection between the Mana Reserve and the linked enchanted object, a flow of additional energy is created to provide additional power the enchantment.

Number of duplicates of this Artifact:

             2 (3 created in total)

Do you agree to keep the MT updated on the whereabouts and ownership of this Artifact by using the Magic List Errors?:

Firstly, I wish to commend Gror Ireheart for his ability to scribe letters. His replication of various sections of Urguan’s Articles and Legal Codex were finely written, even if the comprehension was lacking. That alone is a great feat for a dwed of his skills.

However, as Lord Justicar of Urguan, I feel obligated by my station to correct gross misinterpretations of our laws, so that no misunderstanding might persist. I shall do so in the order presented by Gror Ireheart himself, for ease of comparison.

Gror Ireheart claims that Clan Ireheart was denied protection from the agents of Du Loc. This is blatantly false.

The particulars of Grand King Ulfric Frostbeard’s agreement with Du Loc specified that Du Loc would be allowed to protect themselves from Clan Ireheart if the they ever returned to Du Loc to attack civillians or otherwise broke the laws of the Lordship, Ulfric knowing that the Irehearts would not do so in the first place.

In simpler terms, in order for any Ireheart to be allowed to come to harm without repercussion from Urguan, they would first have to leave the bounds of Urguan’s territory, trespass into the sovereign lands of Du Loc (from which they are banished), and threaten or otherwise unjustly harm the citizens of Du Loc. By no means whatsoever can this be portrayed as a betrayal on Clan Ireheart, and is historically the terms that Sons of Yavok have requested for Urguan to offer to other nations that the clan is feuding with; example being Krugmar during the reign of Jorvin ‘Godslayer’ Kazrinsson.

Though Gror Ireheart’s foolish attempt to quote the Articles of Urguan to support his “claim” that Grand King Ulfric Frostbeard was in the wrong is so twisted it seems a waste of time to answer it at all, I shall still do so.

    The Articles state:

ARTICLE IV: THE CITIZENRY OF URGUAN

Section III: The Rights to Protection and Justice

Section 3.2: A dwed is to be able to protect themselves and be protected within the Grand Kingdom of Urguan.

This guarantee only stands within Urguan’s own sovereign borders, not within the borders of other sovereign nations.

I could waste more time expounding upon all of the problems with Gror’s first claim, but I shall let it rest and move on, lest I run out of ink.

Gror Ireheart claims that, by refusing an honor duel, Ulfric Frostbeard broke the Articles of Urguan is, for lack of a better term, utterly stupid and outright uninformed.

    The Articles state:

ARTICLE IV: THE CITIZENRY OF URGUAN

Section III: The Rights to Protection and Justice

Section 3.3: A citizen is able to seek justice for any wrongdoings through the judiciary body within the Grand Kingdom of  Urguan

Section 3.3.1: The tradition of honor dueling is to be upheld as a tried and true way for personal disputes to be settled, but are to be regulated by the aforementioned judiciary body.

I notice that when mentioning this honor duel, Gror fails to also mention the challenge was made in the midst of a dozen Irehearts, all with weapons drawn and surrounding Ulfric Frostbeard, alongside an attempt to lock him and his council members inside their clan hall. Yet, that blatant attempt to intimidate the Grand King has already been rebuked, so I shall instead focus on the legal falsehoods Gror places before you.

Nowhere in Urguan’s law does it say someone is legally obligated to accept a duel. If the duel is denied, then other means of rectification must be sought out. This has always been the case, and it is a misguided notion that by not accepting the honor duel, the Articles of Urguan were broken. However, if Gror did seek to force the Honor Duel to be accepted as part of payment for a crime, he may have sought out the Lord Justiciar or the proper means that all other clans act by.

Gror Ireheart claims that the public declaration of his banishment was unjust, as there was no trial.

This, at the very least, was an understandable objection. However, under a council vote not only approved, but championed, by Clan Ireheart, Grand King Ulfric Frostbeard was given emergency powers for the duration of the war with Oren. These powers were further extended to him by a majority vote of the council for the duration of the conflict with Clan Ireheart.

Regarding the dismissal of all Irehearts from their Legion and Governmental positions, all of those positions reside within the absolute power of the Grand King, meaning he may appoint or remove people to those positions as he sees fit.

Gror Ireheart claims that all members of Clan Ireheart were banished from the kingdom without a proper trial. This just proves that Clan Ireheart did not (or could not) read the official missive from the kingdom.

Clan Ireheart was not banished, but they lost their rights as recognized citizens of Urguan. Furthermore, each Ireheart was individually given the chance to regain their lost status of citizen of their own accords, but if they did not wish to do so, they were promised the right to leave Urguan without fear of harm or retribution.

Frankly, the article Gror addresses to substantiate his claim has no bearing on the situation, for it refers only to the powers of the High Court in regards of Urguani Officials under investigation for some crime, and has no bearing on the powers of the Grand King. I, however, will cite an article that is relevant.

Gror Ireheart claims that Clan Ireheart were unjustly stripped of their vote on Urguan’s Grand Council. For this he cited the following:

    ARTICLE I: The Grand Council

Section I: Structure of the Grand Council

Section 1: May each Greater Clan or Union of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan have a guaranteed representative on the Grand Council with a guaranteed singular base vote.

ARTICLE V: The Clans of Urguan

    Section I: Recognition of Clans

Section 2: Let there be Greater Clans, the greatest possible official recognition a dwarven family may receive.

    However, the Articles also state:

    ARTICLE I: THE Grand Council

Section II: Powers of the Grand Council

Section 6: May the Grand Council have the power to vote on the status of a clan with a simple majority and Royal Approval.

For those unclear on the issue, Clan Ireheart’s status as a “Greater Clan” was removed by a near unanimous vote of  the Grand Council. Subsequently, they lost their seat on the council.

This was no tyrannical decision made by the Grand King alone, but one that went through proper council procedures.

Gror Ireheart claims that Ulfric Frostbeard somehow committed the crimes of conspiracy and sedition, which are defined as:

Conspiracy - Conspiracy is the crime of conspiring to commit any other crime listed within this Code of Laws.

Sedition - Sedition is the crime of spreading literature of speech intended to provoke revolution or treason.

Frankly, this last claim is so baffling that I first had to spend an hour becoming intoxicated just to understand this statement. I write the rest of this now, so drunk that I will likely not remember publishing this letter.

The idea that the Grand Council and the Grand King could commit the act of sedition, which itself is a crime committed against the dwarven government, is idiotic. However, even entertaining the idea that it could be possible, I still fail to see what actions would qualify as this. Neither called for open revolution against the government, nor did they promote the citizens to commit treason. Instead, they only addressed the wrongs already committed by Clan Ireheart and offered a just rebuke and punishment.

I am now greatly wearied by the writing of this letter, so I shall retire with this statement:

Clan Ireheart has a long history of “playing the victim” whenever they are clearly in the wrong, stooping to levels hardly comprehensible in any vain effort to justify their actions. This is only the latest feeble attempt for the Irehearts to satisfy their ever growing desperate need to be in the right.

I shall also take this time to advertise the opening of a new charity: The Irongut Foundation for Disabled Irehearts, who will strive to educate these most hopeless cases in the simple art of reading comprehension. Donations are now being accepted.
