Thomas al’Mearan was a seasoned officer in the Mali’fenn army, and after the escape to Arcas, he found that his beliefs did not align with those of the counsil in the Citadel. He believes wholeheartedly that the Mali’fenn is best served isolated from the outside world. “Why engage with other races when one can never know their true intent?” Is one of the questions you can hear Thomas use in a discussion regarding the open Citadel. This doesn’t mean he lacks compassion for others in need, but he will always prioritize his kin and family over any other race. He therefore left the Citadel in search of a new home where he will create the vision he now have for his kin.
The reason for this trust issue can be traced back to his days as a soldier in the army. Time after time, it was never any bandits or brigands from the Mali’fenn that attacked or pillaged towns and convoys. Always people from other races. As such, he believes the Mali’fenn will be benefitted the most, if they are left alone.
His upbringing is that of a soldiers. His father and mother both were soldiers, and their house rules mirrored that of the barracks. This made Thomas find comfort in the army later on, where discipline is expected and rewarded.
There isn’t much to share from his time in Axios and Atlas. He worked as a soldier and carried out the tasks given by the higher ups. And as such, he were rewarded with the position of sergeant. Due to always carrying out the orders given down to the letter. This post however, is now only a memory. As Thomas have left the Citadel.
