Looked at the screenie. Many of the people who were involved are involved in almost any war and magically have characters they don't play until the moment they need em.

Why is pancho and orlanth and every other ferrymen always have Human XYZ who is a guard of a nation but never play em till there's a conflict that requires them to have an internal character. I pitty @itdontmattabecause selfish individuals that only care about their own wants and needs destroy the servers rule sets and leave it to the admins to try and fix it.

Players who are war dogs should be banned. Conflicts should be one playerbase versus another. Not world wars without justified causes.

I mostly agree with that sentiment when it comes to that sort of thing. Generally, mercenary companies and such negatively impact the server and are a facet of that OOC NLing issue they tried to crack down on some months ago. Ostensibly they try to be LOTC’s OOC praetorian, and as such habitually flip flop sides. Even if it’s slightly accurate to how real mercenary companies worked I would at least prefer some system that enforces loyalty or neutrality. Ie a mercenary company must wait x amount of conflicts before fighting someone who was previously an ally(unless betrayed or whatever).

That or you just completely wipe out the system and get rid of mercenaries, whichever.

My only disagreement is that the staff who were present wholly contradicted the current wording of the rules. Violation of rules in spirit, is of course something to consider, but I think that argument has been forfeited when that raid leader asked clarifying questions (several hours in advance) about said rules/planned raid, indicating, whether you disagree with them or not, they were conducted in good faith. As for rules going forward, I agree that they should be amended to discourage OOC entities like mercenaries, after this situation is resolved. I think it’s a bandaid solution and warhawks are still gonna find ways to warhawk(IE members of the rally could have just as easily been peasant larpers, any rules will always be stopgaps), but you’ve gotta try to fix things, right?

edit:clarifying questions were asked in advance

It was the 12th of Snow’s Maiden 1766, on a cold, snowy winter’s eve when most imperial men would be with their families and loved ones, flocked together in their fire-lit homes. The soldiers of the Hound and the bannermen of the house Ludovar were not ordinary men. As the night wore on, huddled forms of cloak-swathed men could be seen crossing the blighted tundra near where Curon had once stood, silhouetted by the occasional lantern that dotted imperial roads. It had been but mere hours since word had reached Johnstown, tales that told of many Nordling bandits- most on horseback- coldly robbing and killing women, and children on the roads as they returned from Sunday school. Reynault, known to be anything but a haughty man, confided in Frederick Ludovar; one of his closest and most trusted allies. After some time of deliberation and planning, the two men rallied their forces and were soon prowling into the Nordling lands under the cover of darkness.

While Nordling leadership had never been renowned for their tactical prowess, they were not bereft of competent rank and file, and soon a dutiful sentry spotted the advancing party!  There they were shortly met by a MASSIVE Nordling horde, many of them the same ones guilty of ordering and committing the horrible atrocities committed earlier on Imperial roads. The Northmen were outnumbered by the Nordlings, but the Northlander’s hearts were filled with zeal, a craving to avenge the many innocent who were felled by the Nordlings’ swords and axes.  Reynault and Frederick quickly ordered their men into the shield wall formation as the Nordling horde blindly charged forward into them, their horses’ hooves shaking the very earth they all stood on. The enemies’ horses were fast- abnormally fast- and many of them would certainly be damned by the sky gods.

The initial charge was brutal, leaving many Northmen and Nordling alike dead, but the passion the Northmen had in their hearts was unmatched. Suddenly, the battered Northmen began DESTROYING the Nordling army, slaying their cavalry and infantry alike. Was it their ardor, training, or superior command? None of them could say for certain, but such a devastating victory could only have been delivered in part by GOD. Reinvigorated by their renewed momentum, the Northmen charged forward, slaying any of those disciplined or brave enough to hold their ground. The rest ran, many of them cut down by withering crossbow fire.

And with that, the wounded Hound and Ludovar men marched back to Haense bloodied, bruised, and beaten- some of them even dead, soon to be buried under Canon law. Despite their many injuries and wounds, travelers reported seeing these men marching with smiles on their faces, for these men were brave men, men willing to give their lives without hesitation, so that the innocent and meek may live in peace.

    It was a quiet afternoon.

The holy men of the Hounds had been tired from their many patrols of the roads. To the weary traveler upon the road, they gave bottles of water and freshly baked bread. To those baneful bandits, they offered no quarter...

The afternoon remained uneventful as the merry men walked down the road from Haense to Rubern. Jean began to whistle a light tune as the men began to sing along in praise to the one true Almighty:

“O splendor of God’s glory bright, Who bringest forth the light from Light; O Light of light, light’s Fountain-spring; O Day, our days enlightening-

     …They paused...

The squint of unpolished metal caught their eyes, as a small smirk formed beneath Reynault’s helm. The holy men drew their blades, signed the Lorraine and asked for the blessing of GOD: to protect His servants all while they began to charge at the bandits. Soon, the bandits turned tail and began to run. The men of God paused, sheathing their steel and taking their Carnatian crossbows off their backs...GOD would guide their arrows!  Daniel Viktor, Solebron and Jebediah’s arrows would strike true, piercing the bandits' crude armor in a glorious display as they ran. It would not take long before Reynault’s blade came crashing into the neck of the wounded and fleeing bandits. The few alive would beg for mercy as they flee’d. A few would escape, but the other vast hordes would be condemned by GOD to live a life of inferno and torture...

...Shortly thereafter, Jean began to whistle once more as the group buried the bodies by Canon law before walking back victorious.

    It was a quiet afternoon.

One thing I gather from here is we certainly need to push forward our plan for a consistent standard for roleplay quality. If you or a loved one has been affected by mesothelioma trollplay or other nonsense low-quality RP please send me in a testimony in a forum DM and I’ll read through it (note I can’t respond to all of them). Unrelated to this but more closely related to this post, the banned user in question recently was caught in another case involving the same thing so the warning / apology wouldn’t play in anyway. Sorry about your plight Swifty Sam but the ban sticks.

Evidence? None was provided in the convo. This is a recurring issue on staff’s part.

  5. +1

Staff behavior like this is the only thing that has ever truly prevented me from enjoying the server, the fact that staff are allowed to participate in conflict and simultaneously provide rulings to ban players on opposing factions eternally baffles me. The absolute pre-disposed vitriol the Admin approached you with is disgusting. This is especially disconcerting because you, Swifty_Sam, were a new player on LOTC (and still are just a month or so new as of this post).

Edit: Additionally, the fact that an appeal must wait to be submitted many weeks after a potentially unscrupulous ban report is delivered only serves to enable staff to continue to commit potentially corrupt practices. This wouldn’t be a problem if there was ANY semblance of internal accountability among staff, but there is none to be found.

Senator Charles Napier adjusts his reading glasses, squinting at the ransom note.

“Good lord, they’ve captured one of their own nobles, and are trying to ransom them off to the Empire?”

    “Savauge and Stupid....”

Ser Feathers Mcgraw cackles upon hearing Charles’ words. “FOOLISH senator, this is what happens when you deal with such a MASSIVE volume of Orenian prisoners, perhaps if you took NEARLY as many prisoners, and your own countrymen were not so afraid to enter AIS lands(true story, I once confronted a Curonite so stricken with fear they killed them selves in front of me), then perhaps you too would suffer from success. You see an accidental capture, I see almost 20,000 minas in Orenian ransom money in less than a saint’s week. That’s a lot of trebuchet ammunition.”

“Since when is that snake a ser?” Ivan would ask when he read the letter.

Upon seeing the letter signed the famous Ivan, Blythe chuckles as he fondly recalled lassoing the poor-looking fellow and dragging him to and fro the roads of Rubern and Haense before finally caging him like a recess monkey just earlier that saint’s day. “Good times, good times.” he remarks.

  8. MC Name: KRULEWICZ (May change by the time this app gets reviewed, acc was temp stolen from me, contacting mojang to get it changed back)

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The Hou-zi are a race of primate-like bipedal people, with many distinctly different sub-races including Hei-Zhu, Laobai-Zhu, and Fei-Zu. Hou-zi are intelligent creatures, capable of retaining knowledge and developing technology. They can even learn to speak many languages such as common, and sometimes even more race-specific ones too. The Hou-zi sub-race I would like to play is a Fei-Zu, a baboon-like sub-race of beautifully colored Hou-zi. The Hou-zi originated in the islands of Axios, existing as simple primates until they were gifted intelligence by a daemon named Metzi. This newfound gift raised their average intelligence to levels similar to many of the bipedal humanoid races. Once a great empire, today’s Hou-zi have lived long beyond the initial purpose for their awakening, and now live mostly humble(if not impoverished) lives spread in tiny communities. Contemporary Hou-zi culture seems to have mostly stagnated, with most important art and literature being relics and heirlooms from the days of their great empire. However, some Hou-zi have integrated themselves into cities and cultures in Arcas, adopting local fashion and tradition into an interesting amalgamation with their own.
