Character Backstory

Augustus hails from a poor family that originally settled in the woods just North of Haense. His father was a miner by trade who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. When Augustus was 16 years old, his father passed away from black lung (the result of long hours spent down in the mines). Shortly thereafter, Augustus was forced to pick up the mantle to support his mother and eight-year-old brother. During an event in 1725 that would become known as the Three-Month War, a dwarf-led raid resulted in the family home being burnt to the ground and the death of the family matriarch. With their lives turned to dust, and nothing but the tattered clothes on their backs, Augustus and his brother set out in pursuit of a new life away from the mines. For the following two years, the brothers would live off the land, hunting, and thieving, whatever they needed to do to survive. However, a disagreement over how best to resolve an altercation with a dwarf would result in them parting ways on bad terms. Shortly after separating, Augustus would make his way to Sutica where he has been working as a ship hand.
