Hailing from Helena and born into one of the many affluent merchant families residing in the well guarded city, Aldridge has known little hardship throughout his life. Throughout his youth he was given a private education, and as such didn’t mix all that much with those less fortunate than himself. Eventually, having heard one too many a tale of brave nobles marching forth into battle, Aldridge, in a display of hopeless naivete decided to strike out on his own, abandoning his life of luxury for adventure, hoping to emulate the heroes from the tall tales he’d heard many a time at school.
After a few days of travelling, he met a group of mercenaries in a tavern, who, after some discussion (and alcohol) offered to take him on as a recruit. However this good fortune was rather short lived, as soon after he managed to ruin a planned ambush on a bandit camp by attempting to single-handedly storm the camp, hoping that such an act would earn him widespread renown and kick off a brilliant career. In actuality he was knocked out by guards within seconds of entering the encampment, and the bandits rapidly packed up and left, realising that their position had been compromised.
By the time Aldridge’s companions gave the signal and launched their ambush, the bandits were long gone, and Aldridge, lying unconscious near the entrance, was all that remained. Following this, the mercenaries relentlessly scolded Aldridge for being an impulsive fool, before kicking him out of their group.
Bitter and with a bruised ego that still hasn’t quite recovered, Aldridge now wanders the world aimlessly, still hoping to one day attain the renown that he foolishly gave up a comfortable, happy life to chase.
