Growing up in Dunharrow, Eskil lived a relatively normal life with his small family. His father was a farmer and his mother a seamstress, though his older brothers both had joined the Ruricguard after becoming adults. Eskil had not the same passion for swordplay and quickly found himself a farmhand. Despite not really caring for the work, he worked. Eskil loved his father and wanted him to be able to rest in his elder years.
Many months of work turned into years and Eskil soon found himself to be a strong and happy young man. His father’s role in the household had changed, becoming much more of a salesmen while Eskil kept the farm in working order. The years of hard work left Eskil quite rugged, and handsome as well. His mother always helped cut his hair and trim his beard, and his brothers managed to show him a bit about how to defend himself. His handsomeness garnered attention from more than a few young women, though he was not as interested as most other men his age. He had work to do.
A few more years passed, as did Eskil’s two parents. Devastated by the loss of his beloved mother and father, Eskil could see no reason to continue working as hard as he had. He left the farm to his eldest brother, who had recently been married. Eskil set out, really not looking back. He’d served his family well, giving his parents an easy life in their old age. Now it was time to decide what exactly he wanted out of life. Where would he go?
