Taraii was born into a isolated village just outside the city of Ves, in the realm of Arcas, an only child raised by her loving mother Cecile. She did not know of her father as her mother never spoke of him. The small village did not have much to offer, but Taraiis mother would always remind her “For the two of us, home is not a place. It is a person. And we are home.” This kept Taraii hopeful and content with their underprivileged status. Together they farmed their limited resources and lived in their little house which did not always have food provided on their table. Taraiis mother, Cecile educated her the best she could and taught her how to sew and cook with the limited resources they had available. Taraii’s only friends where the forest animals as her mother insisted she stayed in the safety of their home, warning her of the dangers that lurked outside. In Taraii’s later years, to her misfortune her impoverished village was burnt to the ground by the soldiers passing through to the city of Ves which was to later be sacked and torched. Taraii’s mother, Cecile, caught in the blaze along with it. Distraught Taraii fled from the village, bribed and pleaded to migrate with ships passing by the oceans edges to a safer place, a place she can call home once again.
