Osmern is of house Turrend, son of Farrimond Turrend, famous brewers of Turrend Red, an uncommon fine wine from Blauburg castle, in a far away land. Osmern grew up an apprentice brewer under his father so he could take up his family’s work when he comes of age. He was never let outside of the castle walls with little to do but study and wander meaninglessly. Ever since he was a child, a travelling merchant , named Gaotselon would come from lands unknown to trade with with Farrimond. When Osmern turned 15, he father let him listen in on one of his deals with the Gaotselon. For his 19th birthday, the merchant gave him a gold engraved coin, a rarity from his land. Gaotselon stayed as a guest of Farrimond for the night to celebrate with the surrounding lands’ lords. The same night, he spoke to Osmern of all that he’d seen in his travels, describing the great cities with high walls, the strong castles, and the beautiful mountains. He told him of the magnificence of the world, mesmerizing Osmern. Every year after that, when he came, Gaotselon would go to the boy and tell him of his wondrous journeys and what more he had seen of the world. After Osmern turned 19, he left the castle for a full day, exploring the nearby woods, the territory of Farrimond. Once his men caught up with Osmern, Farrimond found his son wanting to see more, and leave his home. This was unacceptable in his eyes. He swore that, unless he learn what there is to learn of the brewery, he would not leave while Farrmond stay breathing. after 10 years of resistance, his father gave in and became more lenient, letting Osmern wander to the nearby castles and lands, but no farther. A few months, Osmern claimed to be leaving with the Gaotselon next time he came through. This caused a large fight between the two, father and son. In the end, Osmern continued with his plan to leave, with threats of a denouncing. When the day came that the merchant was ready to leave, farrimond disowned Osmern as his son, removing all ties of family, leaving everything to be passed to his younger, more tame, brother, Robert Terrund. After 3 years of working with Gaotselon, Osmern lost his dear friend merchant. His lasts words were for Osmern to travel even farther to a land of opportunity, and true adventure, the land of [lotc world name]. After about 1 month of travelling, at night, after he had completed a rather large fetching mission for a small-time merchant, Osmern was camping two days from the closest city, and suddenly out of the mists, emerges a dark cloaked rider, a being with a presence of pure darkness and evil. It was a nazgul, the terrible husks of former men, controlled by the Great Evil. He hid quickly, hoping the Nazgul would not come closer, but there was a fire, the creature knew. It dismounted, and came forth, it stood near the fire, the fire flickered in protest to the cold brought by its presence. It wore a dark cloak, with battered partial plate armor underneath, black leather clothing, and a hammered iron helm like a crown. Suddenly, it did the unexpected, it called out to whoever had made the campfire. Impossible, nazgul can’t speak. He emerged, surprised, but welcoming, as they had established peace (A much needed peace after Osmern’s busy night). They talked afterwards, about their stories, and what brought them to this point. Osmern always loved talking to strangers, they were at times the best fellows to chat with. And seeing how this fellow had some strange things going about him, it would be nice to sit down with him. They grew close fast, and became good friends. They now travel together, the nazgul goes with the human, to aid him, because he is the only one to not have great fear of him, and to understand his situation. The Nazgul wishes to protect others from the ring that once controlled him, and it from the ones who could truly harness its power.
