Hadiya grew up with her traditionalist Rassid family, moving from place-to-place as her father and uncles traded with merchants around the land. Despite her gender, Hadiya’s parents believed in a good education, and thus taught their children everything they could, from basic arithmetic to the other cultures that they would encounter throughout their nomadic lives, even about the Orcs and the Elves. Through this, she understood how other cultures handled celebrations, rituals, and marriage. She learned that women in other cultures had different places in society other than back at camp, tending to the children. Which is why she was surprised to find that, despite growing up around cultures that said love was the deciding factor in a marriage, her father was arranging a marriage between her and her cousin named Fayyaadaziladed, the most violent member of their camp. Despite arguing with her family about what she was taught, and what the Creator wanted, her father was set in his ways. She would marry her cousin, or she would join the other Infidels that had done the Rassid wrong. Under the guise of “sleeping on it,” Hadiya snuck out of camp that very night. With very little to her name, Hadiya set out into the world, hoping to leave her old life behind, and follow her own path, whatever the Creator decides that is.
