Despite being raised in a relatively wealthy family of Orenian business owners, Davion Artisino wasn't born with silver spoon in his mouth, far from it actually. The first thing Davion had seen in his entire life was not his parent's loving faces nor the midwife who assisted in his birth, but the blinding light of a nearby lantern and a dreadful burning sensation in his eyes. Davion's parents, concerned with his ever-growing cries of pain and reddening eyes, brought him to all manner of doctors, wisemen, and even clergy members, all of whom said there was no cure to his overly light-sensitive eyes. Davion's parents, unwilling to give up on their first son, decided to raise him and prayed the affliction would vanish with time. Under the supervision of a caretaker, Davion initially grew up wearing a plain blindfold that would relieve him of some of the bright lights that constantly surrounded him in the city of Providence, however, after accidentally burning his left hand in an attempt to extinguish a fireplace, his blindfold was replaced by one of special-make that could block out all sources of light, effectively rendering him near blind. As Davion grew, his affliction in the eyes had not dissipated, but in its place he cultivated his other senses, from being able to hear a single water droplet fall dozens of meters away, recognizing the smells of countless odors, and tasting a single grain of salt in a pitcher of water by the time he was 8. Davion's uniqueness however, would not win him any friends, as he was often insulted and disparaged by other children at the local nursery for his eyes and blindfold. At the age of 10, he was led through the city by some unsavory kids who tricked him into following them alone with the plan of stealing his blindfold. After having his blindfold stolen and thrown away by the kids, Davion spent an entire day looking for it before his caretaker found him shivering in an alley with his hands clenched upon his eyes. Following this event, Davion swore to never let such a thing happen again. Not letting his eyes be an excuse for him to give up, he learned to read in almost complete darkness and write with his blindfold on. He cultivated his senses even further, refined his body, and honed his combat skills in a blind state. At the age of 21, Davion considered himself to have achieved near perfection of his curse, or blessing as he sees it now, and left his home in an attempt to prove to himself - and the world - that he was worthy of existence.
