  1. LOTC was nice escapism, but I can be myself in public now so its not really fun anymore.

Trans Rights, and Love you ******* <3.

This is my final message, goodbye.

(Life got shitty again, and need escapism >_<)

  2. Please don't post these sort of things in this sub, either do so in MISC, or discuss the idea in a discord server. This is for COMPLETED lore posts only.

If your looking for something similar to this read up on this lore:

It is related to energy redirection with mana, but no lightning.

An ordinary seeming man poured over the profane text. Each movement of his was slow, calculated - almost too perfect and precise. He seemed young, but his eyes said otherwise, they told many tales. A great many religious symbols hung down from his dull green robes. Beaded necklaces of varying shape and size were strewn across his garment and they all bore the Lorraine cross as a pendant. Something disturbed him deeply about the text, and what followed was awfully peculiar. He ripped out one of the pages, and scrawled into it a great illustration, and then he placed it back into the book. After standing up and spinning around three times, a satisfied look came over his face and he placed the book deep beneath one of his floorboards.

Semi realistic style, but if it struggles to get the arm right then anime.

  5. Seems underwhelming. The interaction which gems have with ectoplasm opens up a tone of potential routes for non-combat roleplay, but this is not explored. Since it conflicts with most magics maybe make it a 2 slot magic and add more ways of exploring the concept. I like the concept overall however; gives of some very sweet stormlight vibes!

  6. Greater Teleportation redline amendments (in italics).

    Spoiler

    - This spell is purely non-combative. Using this in the middle of combat is breaking soulstone rules.

    - This spell follows the soulstone rules. If the soulstone is SS blocked or recharging you cannot use this spell.

    - Multiple people may enter the rift if they posses a soulstone to the same location. This should be emoted to be more difficult for the mage, and taking a longer period of time.

-A maximum of 3 additional people could be brought through without a circling ritual.

-For a flavorful way of using a horse whistle, the spell could be cast towards a stable their horse is at instead of a soul pillar. This would transport the horse to the location.
-This would take 3 emotes (even if connected it would still take 3 emotes)

-This can only be done out of combat, although once it is done the horse acts as if it where a normal mechanical horse.

-Mounts unattended to voidal energies would be left stunned for an emote, requiring their rider to calm them before hopping on. Creatures such as Yisar would not be concerned by being translocated however.

-Follows all rules for horses and requires the possession of an item capable of summoning a horse mechanically. (Such as the whistle.) Should this mechanic be removed then this would no longer work.

-Just because horses can be teleported from its stable and then back, does not mean the rift can be used by the caster to go to the stable.

    Changes

-Made it so multiple could enter the rift, but only if they have a soulstone to the same location.

-Added a way to explain the use of the horse whistle, through a greater teleportation.

    Purpose

The purpose of this ammendment is to bring the lore up to pace with the current mechanics possible on the server. By creating a flavorful explanation for Translocationists to how the horse whistle works. Also allowing for Greater Teleportation to be used more in roleplay, due to a mechanical situation already exsisting for its use.

  7. Hi, playable creature posts are some of the more difficult ones to write well. Might I suggest you try to make some non-playable creatures for people to interactive with to hone your writing skills? Trying to jump right in the deep end is not going to get you what you want.

    Effect(s) of the Artifact:

    Battlemorphing

    (Conjuration)

Those practitioners of the mystic arts who weave with flesh and blood, are known to be some of the more unstable magi. Masters of this craft perhaps more so. There are those amongst the ranks of the master conjurationists who would seek to go beyond merely summoning minions of great physical prowess to aid them. They who would seek to turn their mastery over antimony upon themselves. To coat their form with the same arcane musculature and bone which their summons constitute of. This feat of mastery provides them the ability to truly join in the battle and perform the tasks that they see their conjurations unfit to perform. Made from an intense form of Beastmelding, the muscles would cling to them and provide varying degrees of strength depending on the amount of mana funneled into their Jing. This strange process of casting while preventing them from casting further, would allow the mage to ignore many of the drawbacks which come from maintaining a spell due it being weaved into the arcanium Jing. Of course providing its own drawbacks in the process. This is worth it to them however for they can grow to embody the physical magnitude to match a fit Uruk.

This false physical prowess that coats them comes in two variants based on the amount of mana imbued before casting into the Conjuration Arcanium Jing.

    T4 Lesser Battlemorphing

[Connection][Charge][Arcane Armaments][Cast]: Covers the casters frame in musculature of peak human strength, and a layer of flesh from any known creature. This would happen beneath their clothing. These layers would be thick as gambeson and would protect the user as such. This would add an inch or two to their height. The head would be covered in the skull, and face of any known creature but with empty eye sockets – providing the eyes where in a spot that would not be conducive for eyes to peek through the skull could be altered to have holes, or the mouth could be permanently opened to reveal the face instead. The fingers end in small claws, from know particular creature, capable of cutting and scraping. The use of spells like all forms of Battlemorphing would be impossible due to the currents of mana covering them but they would be able to effectively use a weapon or other items. Should they get injured in some way that is non-debilitating they would be able to continue on, as focus is not a factor in maintaining the battlemorph. If the Arcanium Jing was damaged, by a heavy focused hits, the entire morph would seem to shift and melt, effectively lasting 3 emotes before bursting into visceral. Assuming the Jing was not damaged, the morph could last for an entire combat encounter, or for 2 OOC hour out of combat.

    T5 Greater Battlemorphing

[Connection][Charge 2x][Arcane Armaments][Cast]: Guards the caster in bones, and thick musculature, a layer of flesh from any creature they know. This would cover their clothing and Arcanium Jing.  The battlemorph would be capable of unleashing strength equivalent to a fit uruk. The extra build would add roughly a foot to their height. Unlike an Uruk they would have limited control, and their movements would be wild and animalistic. This would prevent them from effectively using any weapons, beyond their Arcane Armaments. The claws which could sprout from the ends of their fingers while being a bit larger then the lesser form but only due to being relative to the size of the greater forms hands. Makeshift weapons such as big sticks or rocks could be picked up for an emote but they would be prone to dropping it after that. This would be made more difficult as their vision would be quite limited, removing their ability to see through their peripheral. In general any attack they made would be wild and animalistic, as they have less ability to control it. These wild attacks would also damage the caster, easily causing them to pull muscles and dislocate bones, effectively leaving them useless for the rest of the day (12 OOC hours) after using it. Outside of combat for mundane uses such as lifting large objects or moving things, would not have this effect as they could move in a slower more controlled manner. Although the Arcanium Jing would be overgrown with flesh runes or some sort of arcane indication would break through the skin to point towards the weak spot. It would be more protected then in the lesser form, but once the skin and muscle was broken away one solid hit or two would to it lasting 2 emotes before bursting into visceral. This lasts a single combat encounter, or for 1 OOC hour out of combat.

    Spoiler

    Arcane Armaments

    (Conjuration + Voidal Magic)

Providing they had mastery in another form of magic, they could wave some of that into their Battlemorph to provide some form of weaponry to it. This is especially important for the Greater Battlemorph, incapable of wielding standard weapons. All of these would take 1 emote in addition to the normal casting time. Only one Arcane Amendment may be applied at any given time.

    Spoiler

Conjuration: Using standard life evocation the mage could replace the claws of their battlemorph with an equivalent body part from any known creature or plant. This follows the standard redlines of beastmelding. Additional plant matter could be added aesthetically on it.

All Evocations except Air: Coat the hands of the battlemorph with an element, as well as harmlessly displaying on parts of the bodyThis follows the properties of that evoked element in the lore.

Air Evocation: Draws forth currents of wind around the battlemorph, aesthetically making the sounds of instruments or whispers. The attacks would knock the opponent back 1 block, and never off a ledge, this would be mostly harmless beyond that.

Transfiguration: Arcane gauntlents made of abjuration would ward the fists. These would allow the battlemorph to block one spell of any tier before vanishing. It would also act as a solid barrier for enchanted weapons, and Atronachs. Parts of the creature could be covered in their mana aesthetically replicating the look of ward shields, although providing no benefit.

Translocation: This would lead to the movements of the battlemorph to be intertwined with blink steps. Providing a certain unpredictability to observers. When they ran at full speed only their 1st and last blocks of movement would consist of their feet on the ground the rest would involve them bursting into a trail of mana towards their destination. (This is for 8 blocks of movement, they would effectively exist in a blink step for 6 blocks). Their movements would not change in predictability, and their attacks would hit at the same rate. Aesthetically it movements could appear to jump and blur into a fog of their mana.

Sensory Illusion: The size of the battlemorph would appear 25% larger that it actually is, but would shrink to its actual size upon entering within a 2 block radius of it. Additionally shadows or some other minor illusion could be applied to them as well for aesthetics.

    Red Lines of the Artifact:

    Spoiler

-Requires T5 in Life Evocation, and T3 in Jing Crafting to learn.

-When applicable it follows redlines of Life Evocation.

-Arcane Armaments follows redlines of the lore used for it. For example, conjured ice gauntlets would not stain surfaces with liquid upon melting, and fire would spread but not be controllable once leaving the summoned area.

-Requires T5 in the specific magic used to access Arcane Armaments. This means that anyone capable of learning the spell would be capable of summoning conjuration armaments.

-Arcane armaments would prevent the battlemorph from holding anything. If a clear tell is given one limb could lack an Arcane Armament, although this would not change the emote count.

-Due to the strain put on the body it can only be used once per OOC day for combat.

-Indication of knowledge of the spell must be marked on Life Evocation [MA].

-Casting must have a tell, either the muscles forming from the aura of the mage, portals appearing to drop the anatomy onto them, etc.

-When casting, movement is limited to 2 blocks for Greater battlemorphing, and 3 blocks for Lesser battlemorphing.

-Some tell that the Jing is required.

-The Jing must be made of Conjuration Arcanium (can be Refined or Active). The Conjuration Arcanium does not have to be made by the user of the spell, but to turn it into a specialized Jing does require knowledge of the spell.

-Knowing the spell does not mean they know how to make Arcanium, this must be learned separately.

-The Arcanium may be made into a Jing during the forging process, to save ST resources.

-The Arcanium Jing follows redline of Arcanium. How it can be damaged there in.

-Summoned layers of creatures' flesh could be equivalent to layers of the creature's flesh and muscle. This means that the greater form would have more protection then the lesser, especially since it has skeletal structure as well.

-Due to the mana the spell being effectively funneled into a Jing, the mage does not need to focus to maintain the battlemorph. Due to the extremely chaotic currents of mana they would be unable to cast however, especially as the greater form would be painful to use in a fight.

-The lesser form would be capable of using a single one handed weapon, but anything greater would not be possible. Anything more than a recurve bow would be impossible as well.

-The greater form would be incapable of using any weapon, and any item they picked up in battle could only be held for 2 emotes. It could only ever be used to blindly flail about with. This makes claws, or optional arcane armament to be their only effective weapon.

-In greater form there will be a skeletal structure that covers them, but it will always be humanoid (beyond the claws and skull).

-Arcane focus has no effect on this spell, other than perhaps making it feel easier for the caster to (Need advice).

-For the Lesser form a hit from Thanium would destabilize the mana and lead to the spell lasting for 5 more emotes, a second hit would burst it into visceral. When these two hits have been completed the thanium will count as having absorbed a T4 spell.

-For the Greater form one hit from Thanium would destabilize the mana and lead to the spell lasting 8 emotes after being hit, two hits from Thanium would destabilize the mana enough where it would last 3 less emotes after being hit, three hits would burst the Battlemorph in visceral. When these three hits have been completed the thanium will count as having absorbed a T5 spell.

-The Transfiguration arcane armament could effectively block one hit from Thanium, and then the normal rules apply.

-Auric oil would not be effective on this due to it being a T4 or greater spell. Although the slices it made could be roleplayed as burning the flesh of the creature.

-Cosmetic chimeric alterations can be made to change minor things like the color, or slightly different bone structure, of the creature's flesh and face that is summoned. This does not take any extra emotes.

-This spell can not be enchanted.

-A transfigurationists who is also T3 in Jing Crafting (and T5 in Conjuration) could abjure the spell, at the same cost to their mana pool as it took to summon it. This would also break the Arcanium Jing, requiring it to be reforged.

-Ward Shields will act like solid barriers to the Battlemorph, and will require multiple hits to break.

-Spell can not be cast with any amount of armor on. Requiring the caster to wear light clothing such as robes.

-Battlemorphed form would glow extremely bright through arcane lens. Anyone capable of seeing mana would notice this as well.

-The muscles would cling to the skin of the caster, leaving marks upon them when they left the form. If this spell was used many times in the span of a week it could leave discolored scars in the shape of tendons.

Explanation of the effect(s) (i.e. how it does what it does - slight bending of magic lore is allowed):

A master in Jing Binding and Conjuration utilizing an Arcanium Jing, can form an intense and specialized form of Beastmelding and Terrestrial conjuration. This acts effectively differently due to the melding of the two techniques. The techniques learned through Beastmelding are applied to allow the connection of living musculature and beast flesh to be attached to the casters form. Due to being a Jing the spell does not require active focus once cast, but coats the wearer in unstable mana preventing them from using alchemy or casting further spells.

    hey, conj guy here.

reconstruction requiring player signature was something i was already planning on adding, i'm just a very slow writer. +1 from me.

regarding beastmelding emote counts, this is largely a side effect of my personal abstention of one emote spells. i don't know how, but somebody's going to powergame or smth with one emote crab claws, and it's going to come back to me, as conj things always tend to do. on a more objective level, it's substantially more powerful than any other existing one emote spell (at least, in the void sector, dark magic probably has some crazy one emote drops). however, i don't necessarily disagree that it takes too long to cast, either. my proposed edit would be something along the lines of "if using one or two beastmelding jing, two emotes is required. for each additional beastmelding jing used, one additional emote is required". something like that but written less weird because i'm just train of thoughting this.

regarding casting while jing being used, i have no strong opinions on this. it's sorta a holdover from a different era, when voidal weakness was per magic and not just for having void magic at all and it was meant as a replacement for weapons rather than a replacement for armour, a simpler time before scions and such. this one's probably fine.

overall i'm good with this, just hesitant with dropping the floor to one emote for beastmelding.

Thanks for the straight forward answer! All very reasonable criticisms. I like your idea for changing the emote count up, I was a little iffy on it being 1 emote right off the bat as well. In fact Ill will change it to that right now.

  10. Subsection I: Beastmelding

    Original

    Spoiler

    Beastmelding Mechanics

    • All general Jing mechanics.

    • Beastmelding doesn’t replace any existing features, instead being conjured over the area being modified. As a result, the physical prowess of the mage in question is what dictates the impact and capability of Beastmelding. Similarly, as it is conjured over their body, shallow and surface level damage may be absorbed wholly by the  conjured flesh, though deep cuts and blunt force trauma would still get through to the mundane flesh of the mage beneath.

      • An extension to this, Jing cannot create additional limbs, as it cannot conjure over limbs that do not exist.

    • Jing meant for Beastmelding must be worn over exposed flesh, and cannot be used with armour overtop. Sufficiently open or loose clothing (robes, a gi, pajamas, a t-shirt) would not hinder the usage of Beastmelding. Armour may still be worn (if possible), just not over limbs intended to be transformed.

    • Anything the Jing user knows how to summon is eligible to be beastmelded onto their body. However, in order to actually use the summoned, the limb it’s summoned over must have the same general shape. For instance, the hand, the most flexible portion of the body, may be used as a bear paw (flat hand), a goat hoof (balled fist), or a canine’s head (shadow puppet). So long as the same general shape may be made, it’s a valid (though not necessarily useful or good) option.

    • Beastmelding requires two emotes to transform. For each additional Jing being used, one extra emote is required. Up to four jing may be activated at once through this method, totalling six emotes. However, this only works when activating in “bulk”. If a jing is activated, then three emotes later another is activated, both would use the two emotes for activating one Jing.

    • Multiple instances of Beastmelding must affect different body groups. Each body group may be a unique alteration.

    • Beastmelding does not require direct concentration to maintain, and so may be used in direct combat. However, being significantly wounded, knocked unconscious, deprived of mana, or having the limb currently undergoing Beastmelding be amputated all end the effect.

    • Beastmelding does not connect the conjured flesh to the Life Evocationist’s, and is instead closer to an extremely tight form-fitting glove. As a result, any conjured eyes or ears do not convey any information back to the caster. They can, however, feel dullened versions of touch and pain through the conjured skin, due to how form-fitting and tight the conjuration is.

    • In a similar vein, one must be careful when choosing what it is that they conjure over themselves. With regards to the head, anything which covers the eyes would blind the user, anything over the ears would deafen, and anything over the mouth and nose would suffocate. With regards to joints in general, anything sufficiently stiff conjured over the limbs would prevent proper articulation.

    • Similarly to Chimeric Alteration, one must keep in mind that possession of specific bodily traits does not inherently confer the ability to effectively use them. For example, summoning a webbed membrane between the arm and torso does not allow one to fly as a bat would.

    • Outside of combat, one may maintain any number of Beastmeldings (to the normal maximum of four) for up to one hour. Inside of combat, the unusual (for a mage) added strain of direct physical combat lowers this time to a mere fifteen emotes.

    • The animal limbs summoned must be of an animal that the Life Evocationist can summon through Terrestrial Conjuration.

    Beastmelding Redlines

    • All general Jing redlines.

    • Beastmelding may not be used as a perfect disguise kit to make oneself look like a specific person. Any alterations instead appear similar to baseline mundane species of whatever is being mimicked.

    • Jing used for Beastmelding coalesce the body’s mana within the sections of the body being altered over, which is disruptive enough a shift in the natural mana flow of the body that standard spellcasting is not possible throughout the duration.

    Subsection II: Reconstruction

     Original

    Spoiler

    Reconstruction Mechanics

    • All general Jing mechanics.

    • Creating a Jing meant for reconstruction requires a ritual taking four emotes in which a Jing is crafted and bound to a specific individual. This Jing successfully heals an area conforming to the bodily region list used by other bodily affecting Jing, listed for posterity below. There is a level of flexibility; A cut from collarbone down the right arm could be handled by a Jing just for the right arm, for instance.

      • Left Leg, Right Leg, Torso, Left Arm, Right Arm, Head.

    • A secondary result of being created ‘In-the-moment’, Jing meant for Reconstruction may be manufactured for individuals other than the creator, including non-mages. All other redlines and mechanics, including occupying enchantment slots and inability to cast other forms of magic still apply.

    • Wounds are functionally healed by Reconstruction, though the process generates notable fatigue, and a dull phantom pain remains in areas of reconstructed flesh until the healing process is fully complete. This process takes a total of three IRL days, and if the Jing are destroyed or removed before this process is complete the wounds will re-open as they were. After this time period, the Jing are rendered defunct, and may be removed without harm.

    • Unlike other Jing spellcasting, Jing meant to be used for Reconstruction rituals may not be made in advance, and are instead made to fit the situation and injury they are meant to overwrite. As a result, they may not be manufactured or utilized mid-combat, and must instead be created in the aftermath if one desires to create them at all.

    • Reconstruction may only be used to ‘heal’ wounds (‘Wound’ referring to cuts, stabs, slices, and fileting. As a general rule of thumb, any injury resulting from a sharp or pointed end), and any other form of injury (including blood loss that may have resulted from the wound itself) may not be repaired by the process.

    • The skin of flesh generated through Reconstruction is noticeably different from the rest of the body, whether that be due to discolouration or scarring. This cosmetic malformation is permanent, and one who frequently abuses the process may one day find themselves resembling a patchwork quilt.

    Reconstruction Redlines

    • All general Jing redlines.

    • If a Life Evocationists creates a Jing meant for Restoration for anyone other than themselves, they hold no ability to alter or control the Jing after the ritual for creation is completed. They may still remove or destroy the Jing through mundane means, as usual.

    • Reconstruction may not be used to repair significantly grievous or fatal wounds, nor does it restore function to otherwise dead life.

    • If the Jing maintaining the Reconstruction is removed, destroyed, or otherwise dispelled, all wounds closed by reconstruction are immediately re-opened. However, there are no other side effects or increase of scale in the damage, and one may even wish to willingly remove the Jing in a controlled environment in order to pursue other avenues of healing.

    • While the Reconstruction is in progress, the Jing centralize mana in the body over the wounded sections of flesh. Combined with the energy required to maintain the conjured flesh, one would have so little free mana in their body to be incapable of spellcasting.

    • Rrequires signature of the conjurationist player.

    Changes

    - Beastmelding requires 2 emotes to activate the first 2 jing, then 1 emote after that.

    - Reduced requirement for Reconstruction from ST signature to player Signature.

    Purpose

As it stands spending the 6 emotes required to activate this is useless, because it basically acts to handicap mages by preventing from casting. This change basically turns beastmelding into an aesthetic form of armor, instead of mages just wearing gambeson. Decreasing the emote count by 1 also makes it so it might be feasible for a few limbs to be coated. Also made it so Reconstruction requires ST signature rather than ST, as it was something the original writer was intending on. It also takes some strain of ST system, and makes it so somebody does not have to wait to get their healing done.
