IT is a cool thing that tech team is working on a solution for that.

I think you'll have an issue regardless when it comes to this proclaimed "Colonization RP" people always praise whenever we come to a new map. If the nation / settlement / lair builds aren't pasted in by staff players will just hop on litematica and grind day in and day out to build what is likely the same city they would have if it had just been pasted.

Players will either grind before the new-map or after the new-map, pick your poison.

You never really want to "force" people to adapt or embrace a new area as most of the time the geographical spot they pick pertains to their nations culture. Oren's usually in a warm plains, Haense in the North cold, Dwarves in a mountain. I think separating the map into different niche environments is cool, but it would just require that they are all useable terrain for current nations to be transitioned over and also any pop up settlements which come about.

The environmental diversity in terrain this map is ******* insane -- really cool honestly. It WOULD be cooler if 80% of it could be used with the altitude not changing every 5 blocks and all being mountainy ****-off areas. The only good land this map is in east hub with tile 86, 88, 91, 93, etc.

Agreed if the map were to be done this way extra attention should be put on making the terrain useable and varried.

If i recall correctly on the later stages of Almaris, the World Team leadership at the time wanted to move all roleplay out of Cloud Temple and into cities- thus why The Library was removed, and shop stalls hadn't been a thing since Atlas.

I think aswell given it's complete inaccessibility in the map, hubs were inevitable, but that's a flaw in the map itself being poorly designed for mechanical movement and distribution.

On various threads/discords I see people advising CT be thrown into the sky and off the map, what are your opinions on that?

It really depend if CT heads further in the direction of a server hub as it is now, or if more rp and shop opportunities are opened up in it.

If it is the latter having a floating Cloud Temple would be good, and it would stop the land from being broken up in the middle. If it becomes a more rp centric location then it should be grounded.

    Guidelines:

    • An arcane relay has three pillars; one for connecting through the void, one to store received images and sound, and one to project them for the mage to see and hear.
    • Pillars can take any form or shape, at the extreme taking a flat form perhaps acting as the rim of a reflective surface (such as a mirror or small pool of water), as long as mana infused chalk or some other form of circling connected three focus crystals to each other.

    Bond Sigils & Glamour Focii

Bond Sigils are physical items which can be made by a Tier 3 or higher Voidal Mage acting equivalent to a lesser enchantment. The object must depict an arcane relay sigil on it but may otherwise be freeform in design. it could be placed upon or within the pillar which has the function of connecting through the void. Upon the necessary activation ritual of the enchantment the arcane relay would seek out a connection to another arcane relay with the same sigil. This one must be manned by one capable of connecting to the void, so that they can maintain the stability of the connection. The bond sigil could easily be swapped with another or simply edited to change its connection (if a mage is around t do so.)

    voe8V3ok7oUHWvpydFy655IMiBxy0NLJQT1q4DnN9hs4GCeTUI2sjf2_Ip_xkOoiDFrayEBoOoLgNKz80c7BFzGQ1ib8pQS2ayIBbrtqkhWuQC559cX2eCR9S4P3Icgas_W47JNbwaXXy7CnCg

A dark elven mage contacts a human noble for some devious scheme, through an arcane relay mirror.

Glamour Focii are an additional element, which must include arcanium of the desire glamour, and placed upon the projection element of the arcane relay (it could be added to the bond sigil enchantment alternatively). This would form a glamor upon the projection effectively making it an extension of the effects of the arcanium. The projection takes on the form of whatever form of magic the arcanium is made of.

-Fire Evocation: Would form a harmless smoke in muted hues for the projection.

-Water Evocation: Would form a mist with no temperature, vibrant colors forming in a  similar way to a rainbow for the projection.

-Earth Evocation: Would form dust or sand which quickly faded and replaced itself which would shape which would form the projection.

-Air Evocation: Would form an extremely gentle breeze which would form into a colored projection. These hues are entirely up to the air evocation. who created the enchantment. The voice of the projection would be ethereal and dream like, as if cast through air evocation.

-Illusion: Could make projection appear twice as large or twice as small. Upon the creation of mart such arcane relays could be incorporated into grand illusions.

-Conjuration (Life Evocation): Is the same as illusion.

-Translocation: Would cause the air to warp and for the projection to be formed out of every shifting patterns of mana which constantly appear and disappear, making an quite difficult experience to view.

-Voidstalker: Would cause the projection to me made out of shifting shadows upon a surface.

-Artificer, Scion and Eminence have no unique interaction beyond the appearance of the sigil itself flavorfully changing when it is activated. In the aesthetic of the arcanium.

    Redlines:

    • Glamour Foci elements have very little physicality beyond aesthetic heat or dampness, and are incapable of interacting with anything beyond temporarily dispersing and reappearing upon being touched.
    •
    • Arcanium must be incorporated into the structure of the relay for its effects to be applied.
    • Glamour foci only require arcanium to function, and enchantment is not required. This is no longer true if both items were to be combined into one piece.
    • The Bond Sigils must have a player signature of someone with at least T3 in any Voidal Magic, and have a clear indication of who to contact. Should the Glamour Foci be included in the item, such information is still required but of course with the ST signature for arcanium.
    • Bond sigils and Glanour Foci can not be used in combat.
    • Bond sigils have same emote requirements as arcane relay.
    • The mage who is running the connect with another non mage is responsible for them rping it properly.

Beard Focus - A beard of sufficiently magnificent volume is indeed worth the admiration of many, yet should it be adorned with metals and crystals imbued with voidal essence it would become a focus of itself. It's hair radiating the light of its mage's aura, dancing of its own accord to the rhythm of their casting, or even to the whims of the caster should their focus be on their beard rather then casting a specific spell. While most of the benefits of casting with a focus are granted with such, the risks are magnified. Failure of ones spells would prove a frightful venture due to the proximity of the face. As well powerful castings with elements such as fire might risk the burning of the mage's mien.

    Red Lines:

-Beards must have some form of trinket upon them which would give them this quality, such as a focus crystal, quietus crystal, mage gold, or titan's eye. These trinkets must be a ring, wire, band, or otherwise anything that could bind a beard in some manner.

-Should wires of arcanium be sewn into it the entire beard would gain the quality as if it were made of arcanium. Just like arcanium the beard would maintain its physical properties, therefore physIcally being of the same strength of hair. Perhaps taking the form of a beard made of fire, ice, or conjured snakes, upon casting (purely freeform.)

-Movement is entirely aesthetic it can not be used for an extra appendage.

-Beards bejeweled with focuses provide all the benefits of any other focus.

-Beard must be at least 1 foot to be used as a Focus. (Obscuring at least a third of the front of the toro.)

-While the beard may move about while casting, it can not be controlled in anyways consciously. This is especially true in combat.

-Hair of over 3 feet can alternatively be used to similar effect. (All the way down to the bottom of a skins back.)

-Voidstalkers with a second mind may find that the beard might harmlessly attack them, merely flailing about.

-Follows all red-lines of Arcane Focus post.

It wasn't necessarily prepared to be accepted on the first go around as I haven't really touched this kind of lore so I wrote down my foundational pieces in hopes that the review for it could help provide me some insight! And yes I did this last night so I'm sure there are a few patches that need placed.

I am excited to see where the piece goes. Good luck!

  8. Simplified version of my suggestion:

The Wildlands would be a certain distance away from any nation or settlements claims and would reset weekly (or monthly), this would allow people to make temporary camps or shrines. This combined with making it easier to make settlements should scratch the itch people have for free-build.

  9. Idea:

Claim based freebuild. Players claim a few chunks, either for a small amount of mina, or some other means. This would hopefully be an automated process. These can then be built upon, but if they are inactive for a certain period of time the build will be unclaimed and revert back to the original appearance of the land.

I am fully aware such a concept would be challenge to implement, but this is just a brainstorm.

This would organically get rid of the worst offenders, placing a few blocks and leaving so to speak. It would still allow dedicated player who do not want to play on a settlement to keep some sort of build going. Also works great for temporary camps.

This would also make it easier for moderators to check if builds fit the standards of the server, because it would clearly list build activity, by claimed tiles.
