Edith was born a peasant girl to a farmer and a travelling merchant. In her travels the merchant fell in love with the simple farm boy and they were miraculously capable of producing a little girl who was named Edith. Feeling disgusted by producing offspring with a man who wasn't a high elf, an act highly discourage in high elven culture, Edith’s mother left her lover shortly after. As such Edith was raised by her father who was forever traumatized by the event. She lived a simple lifestyle, assisting her father in farm work and taking a liking to it for most of her life. As she grew into her teenage years she began to become become bored of the life she lived. Her once interesting work quickly turned monotonous especially as she learned of the land beyond her father’s acre of land. On her 16th birthday she was met by a lone traveler outfitted in a cloak. The woman with stark white hair approached the girl and presented her a book. Edith was literate having been taught the alphabet by her father and learning to read. Upon returning home she quickly became invested in the book, that of which being a text that detailed elven culture and history. The text was biased towards the elven culture and left out many of their shortcomings such as the chaos inflicted by the attempted seizing of the Word Altar or the destruction of Athera. The section she became most heavily invested in was the elves proficiency with magic. Edith was yet to learn of the mystical energy that was magic and how it was harnessed by powerful mages. Her father quickly learned of this and stripped the text away from her, throwing it into the fireplace within their living room. Infuriated with her father she left home in a spout of rage, running away. She came to a small village that existed within the woodlands surrounding her family farm. She remained here, struggling to get by until she was taken in as an apprentice to the local miller. She remained here for 5 years until she came to the age of 21. At this point she once more left the village with a different goal. She had grown remorseful of her actions the night she fled from home. Edith returned home to find the farm destroyed, her father having died from illness during her time away from home. She had inherited the land but quickly sold it away, feeling herself unworthy of the land. For some time she wandered without guidance, unable to find passion or purpose following being alerted of her fathers death. When she became 23 she was met once more by the lone traveler who greeted her so long ago. The traveler now withdrew the hood of her cloak and revealed herself. It was the girls aunt, the sister of her mother who watched Edith grow up from afar. She took Edith’s hand and led her to her aunt’s home in the city of Helena. On the way she learned the state of her mother, who had disconnected herself form society, her location being unknown to all. She lived with her aunt for some time and began to further her knowledge on elven culture and history, later choosing to deviate from the religious faith her father enforced on her and choosing to become atheistic as is common in high elven culture. She began to feel more connected to her mother through her aunt’s teachings. Her aunt refrained from teaching her one thing however, the elves connection to magic. When she was 30, Edith finally questioned her aunt’s reasoning. Her aunt explained that her sister, Edith’s mother, was a sorceress herself and that her ambition caused her to become disconnected from the family. Edith would go on living with her aunt for decades, assisting the older woman with day to day work and sleeping in her spare room. The day came when Edith finally departed from her aunt’s home. Edith was gifted with a hearty amount of gold and a steel dagger for her travel and was wished the best of luck. In the current day she seeks work and adventure within the realm of Arcas.
