Ulfric was born in the Forest Dwarf capital of Hefrumm, as many others were, to Brianna and Duran Sagewind, and led a sheltered life among his people within the forests. As he grew, he became more and more solitary and preferred to spend his time with the wildlife and critters of the woods rather than his family or friends. This natural connection to the wild eventually led the young dwarf to leaving his home for the forests, and leading the rest of his life in relative isolation among the boughs of the forests of Agnarum. Ulfric had one younger sister: Moira. She truly did mean the world to Ulfric, but the two have never been re-united since Ulfric’s departure.
Ulfric has been dubbed a “hedge-druid” by some. Though he is particularly bitter about this moniker, it is not without merit. Due to his life being heavily intertwined with nature, many have been led to believe that Ulfric is in fact a druid. However, he does not actually possess any magical ability whatsoever. He simply has chosen to lead a life at one with nature. Ulfric has come to learn many of the techniques required for survival in the forests, such as hunting and gathering, and, in spite of his relatively basic education, he has developed an adequately sustainable lifestyle.
It is unclear if Ulfric has any living relatives to date, but he prefers not to dwell on what might have happened to them otherwise.
