Kharajyr Celebration of Death and the Life After

The Temple of Mitzuul Grove invites any wishing to join the Kharajyr in a two-day celebration of the lives of those who have left this mortal world. Any wishing to help ease the passing of those spirits into the afterlife should seek the Temple of Metztli in the Mitzuul Grove when the sun is high in the sky on the 16th of Grand Harvest, bringing items and memories of the deceased. Additional activities will be hosted by the Temple in celebration of the departed's mortal life and passing into the next in Metztli's care.

A formal ceremony and ritual hosted by the Temple will commence as the moon rises on the next day for any who wish to participate or look-on.

At the news of Tletl's fate when the group returned to camp, Xo'Kab'al Xoc Xibalamtecatl only blinked, the news washing over her as looked about her bruised and battered kin. She swallowed thickly, trying to keep a strong face for her People, for those that had just lost much more than she. The Kha took to busying herself with caring for those who had returned to tell his tale, the remnants of her already scattered kin. Perhaps with too much work, she could face her People again, perhaps amends would be made for her choice to not join them when her kin needed her.

Kab'al Xoc busied herself until the moon was high over the camp and most of were asleep, filling her silence with anything that would take her away from her thoughts. Finally stopping her poor attempt at avoidance, the leparda knelt before the carved statue of Metztli, their Goddess, the wanning gibbous moon shining over Her head; Tletl's birth moon. Like a wave at high tide, the leparda was overrun with emotion, drowning in a sea of guilt and sadness as the news truly took hold and sank beneath her surface. No tears fallen or work of her hands could fill the void left by Tletl's flame being extinguished before his time; one of her greatest friends. "Uey nantli nimitstlatlauki kana se kuitlapantli nik motlauil.  Xitechmaka uelilistli nik teyakana to tlakah ikamo in petstitlemauatl iui Tletl." She pleaded with Mother Metztli to welcome his bright light back into her embrace in his next life until the moon sank below the horizon.

‘As all inhabitants of the green mountains of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan prepare for conflict in the coming moons, the Kharajyr turn inward, toward the wellbeing of those that have fallen before them, honoring their sacrifice and journey before more spirits are added to the venerated ranks through war.

On the 14th of Sun’s Smile, year 22 of the Second Age, the Temple of Mitzuul Grove invites any wishing to join the Kharajyr in a celebration of the lives of those who have left this mortal world. Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

K'abal Xoc's ancestors were created by the daemon, Metztli, like all Kha, through experimentation on Descendants and Ocelots, though K'abal Xoc and her family believe they were benevolently created through Metztli, ignorant to the cruel reality of their being. In the early history Tla'Jhaan, the first Tlatlanni, believed himself a god, and incurred the wrath of Metztli, causing her to send a volcano to destroy the golden island of Khalenwyr. In the aftermath of this distruction, Tla’Xerdun killed his father and brought back rightful Metztli worship back to the people in the new homeland of Va’Khajra. K'abal Xoc is from a family of deeply spiritual line of Kha’Leparda, who felt very strongly connected to Metztli, and was taught from an early age with a deep appreciation for her creator; it was no surprise that her family was thrown into turmoil when Metztli died, scattering the remnants of her family to the wind. K'abal Xoc returned from her Lunar Pilgrimage with little choice but to forge a new life away from her past. She now seeks to make a new life in the Mitzuul Grove near Urguan.

Kharajir, as the creations of Descendants and Ocelots, take the appearance of large, bipedal cats, and are broken into four subspecies, the Leparda, Tigrasi, Pantera, and Cheetrah. Most can live to be 200 years old, and vary greatly based upon heritage. As a Leparda, she has the rough strength and fortitude of the average human, with only better vision in low light, and slightly more nimble speed and dexterous mobility. 

K'abal Xoc herself is a lithe and lanky Leparda with a golden, a heavy smattering of spots, and bright turquoise eyes. She favors dark, loose-fitting spidersilk garb of a kharajir astronomer, accented with feathers and bones. Often seen with a shawl of dark feathers, a spear, and a leather satchel, K'abal Xoc wanders the lands at night, and favors speed over power.
