  1. Aerin Marsyr would make his way to the gatehouse, back from vacation, to hold the banner of EXALTED FARFOLK OWYN aloft from the battlements. He would curse under his breath as he would probably have to spill canonist blood, heretics and misguided middlemen though they may be.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Automatons, sometimes called Animati or Animii are humanoid mechanical beings engineered and constructed from inorganic or sometimes dead organic tissue, utilizing alchemy to power their internals, such as the ever-important gear heart, acting akin to blood in descendants. Usually, Automatons are made in imitation of the descendant form, following a generally humanoid structure, and ranging in strength from that of the average human to that of an olog. As the strength of the automaton increases, so too does the amount of maintenance and upkeep increase, proportional to the amount of material required to build and fuel the being. The intelligence and social independence of the Animati are based entirely on the designs of the creator, much like its strength, and cannot surpass what is achievable by its creator or any other non-disabled descendant. Where Automatons hold an advantage over descendants is in their durability, inherent strength, and immunity to all forms of fatigue. Due to their manufactured nature, however, they do not simply heal from injuries as descendants would. Any injury which would compromise their internal alchemical environment is many times more dangerous, as this could lead to a full purge of life essence from their body, causing the automaton to go inert. Should this occur, however, and the gear heart remains salvageable, the automaton is able to be salvaged and resurrected in a new body, at the cost of some of their memory, particularly before their previous deactivation. A particular ability of automatons that can lead to both superior feats of strength and agility or a breakdown of the construct’s body, is ”Overclocking”. Overclocking is when an automaton’s clockwork heart pumps alchemical fluids through its body at an increased rate, enhancing the Automaton's speed and strength at the expense of its internal machinery. Pushing its clockwork body past its intended limits can result in the breaking or disjointing of gears within the gear heart. Given enough time, overlocking can cause significant damage which will require repairs, or in even more extreme cases, could prove fatal outright. Minor overclocking will increase the Automaton's abilities by 25% and can be maintained for an IRP minute before inducing heart failure, while Major overclocking can increase their abilities by 50% for less than half the same amount of time.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

A clockwork automaton standing at eight foot tall, this construct boasts a robust humanoid frame, fraught with myriad engravings and shapes within the steel of its chassis - fashioned as much as a work of art as it was a practical soldier. Wrought primarily of gilded steel, this automaton is masculine and incandescent, possessed of a fair and stoic demeanor; though kindness and compassion yet lingers within its azure gaze. Sockets and holes have been drilled through its golden carapace to allow armor to be solidly affixed to it's exterior without worry of straps or other more fragile components.

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

Phantoms of all sorts are the lingering spirits of those who have passed away but whose souls have not, for one reason or another, been consigned to an afterlife and instead wander in the limbo of Ebrietaes. Some phantoms linger due to trauma and others due to a simple lack of desire to pass on, and others still because they are prevented from doing so. In any of the above cases, however, when they are drawn back to the material world, they manifest as phantoms. There are three distinct subtypes of phantoms; revenants, poltergeists, specters. Despite their differences, all phantoms share a handful of traits. Firstly, all phantoms bear a weakness to aurum, voidal magic, mysticism, and shamanic and holy magics. Secondly, all phantoms are mostly incorporeal beings made of ectoplasm, meaning that for the most part they cannot affect the world around them and vice versa. Though mundane weapons will pass through them, their weaknesses render them susceptible to being temporarily “killed”. Thirdly, all ghosts have the ability to make themselves invisible over the course of 3 emotes (though it is an imperfect invisibility and can be seen through in daylight and by those with True Sight).

Revenants are the fledgling stage that all phantoms go through. They have yet to learn of their death, and wander gloomily and in confusion. During this time period, they seek answers to things they feel they are missing, and will often try to repeat tasks they would do in life. Of the three types of phantoms, they are the most susceptible to pain and destabilization, and take 2 OOC days to recover if they sustain some manner of non-lethal injury. Revenants appear as they did in life, colorless and with some indication of their manner of passing. After a Revenant has learned of their death, they can begin to perform their Geistreach ability, and after completing it the requisite number of times will enter a period of reflection, after which they will emerge as either a specter or a poltergeist.

Poltergeists are phantoms who have rejected undeath, and as a result become twisted, angry and in some cases malevolent and cruel outright. They respond to pain with hostility, and exist in a state of chaotic mental anguish. In the event that a poltergeist is injured, it can recover in the time of 1 OOC day.  Unpredictable and often violent, poltergeists have a greater ability to affect the corporeal world, and can make themselves corporeal to attack others or use telekinetic abilities to manipulate or throw items up to 20 pounds in weight. They often appear in shades of red or black, and appear as twisted, warped versions of their mortal selves.

Specters are ghosts that have resigned themselves to the reality of their passing. Unlike poltergeists, they are generally gentle and benevolent beings, though still prone to self-seclusion and melancholy. Like poltergeists, they are capable of temporarily becoming corporeal, and telekinetically moving items around them, though they are generally weaker. Owing to their more gentler state of mind, they also shy away from combat more often than not.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

Edward as a Revenant would appear much as he did in life, albeit bloodied and wearing a tattered tabard and beaten-up armor, his being depicted entirely in grayscale. His attire would be dented, scuffed and covered in a number of punctures, as though his had been a death by way of a substantial mangling. Through the punctured, broken away bits of armor one would be able to see a mix of scarred flesh, exposed bone, and in more places than not, additional metal- lingering memories of the warrior’s mechanical prosthetics.

  5. Rune, whilst aimlessly wandering the frozen tundra of the far north in a depressive daze after the destruction of Varhelm and the great Ashwood there caught ahold of the missive flowing through the oppressive northern winds. Once read, the part of him still of sound mind quietly muttered something about being at least somewhat lucky in not having to observe national politics any longer before continuing on his way.
