Juan Andrés de Torres y Belgrano was born in Oren in a middle-class family. His father’s family, the Torres, was a known one for a long tradition in the military. His mother was daughter of a family composed by merchants and artisans. They lived inside the city. Juan studied in the local school Economics, Philosophy, History, Geography, Literature, Math and Sciences, but at home he also liked to study more about History, Geography, Politics and Economics. His father imposed a strict education on him until he was eighteen years old, and ready to join the military. Juan’s family was also Canonist (my friend Seus told me it was the religion compatible to Catholicism in real life). Because of his strict education, Juan became a silent but wise man. When he talks with people he goes straight to the point. The only places where he really spoke much was political debates among his friends and other people of Oren. When he had free time of his duty as a soldier Juan studied and started to be involved in Oren’s politics. As an entertainment he also went to local brothels until he was 21.
